After watching the Hull goalie fly out and grab crosses outside the 6 yard area, I would buy Tim a deckchair and pension him off.

Bad timing that, Harold, he’s just let one in for Stoke’s equaliser. But we do need to start looking for a replacement for Howard asap.

Harold,

I like reading your post's and you seem to have a good knowledge of the game. Based on that, I find it strange you would take McGregor over Howard. Really?

When you mention Tim HowardÂ’s good points as a goalkeeper a good shot-stopper comes to mind. After that, what else is there....

Barry. Don't know enough about McGregor to fancy him. I was just highlighting Tornado Tim's Achilles heel.

If he had been in goal for Hull, they would have been hammered. McGregor flew out to grab crosses high and low. The equaliser was hardly his fault. It was way out of his zone and the rebound off the post was just rotten luck.

Fair dues Mr M. Just feel for Tim's flaws, we could have a lot worse and McGregor fits that bill. Agreed today's goal wasn't his fault but in my opinion he suffers from bad temperament, and always has a big mistake in him. What's that old saying "you don't know what you've got till it's gone". Think that will be applied to Tim Howard.

Barry. I was a bit tongue in cheek when I kicked off this thread. No-one seem to be interested so I thought it would help if I stirred things up a touch.

Tim was my player of the season in the first year of Mr Martinez but only because of his superb shot-stopping. With time to think he has always caused me to worry. Of course, it would help if the centre backs got their act together.

Careful what you wish for, folks.

If Tim gets injured, our current next-in-line is ...... worrying.

Mike – that is the reason the club should be addressing the issue now and not when it's too late.

Robles doesn't seem to be the one to be the natural successor to Howard and that means we have to buy somebody perhaps we could tempt Ruddy back?

Agreed Patrick. But I hope our keeper situation doesn't become an enforced one. We do need a more robust back up.
