The Echo take The Mirror to task on the supporters' behalf in the wake of an infuriating article in the latter newspaper suggesting that Evertonians were apathetic about travelling to watch the team in Russia because the club's official trip had to be cancelled due to low numbers.

I am somewhat surprised by the 'headline' of the post, surely most blues are well aware that the Mirror is not exactly a source of reliable information, where we are concerned definitely.

To be defended by the Oldham Echo too, is seen in my eyes as tongue in cheek, and placatory pandering to please the RS following (minority, who acknowledge us) too.

As we are all too aware, the Everton faithful will go to any lengths, to support our beloved team, and I wholeheartedly applaud them for that. Come to think of it I did too when I was younger, and could afford to do so.

We also know, that the real reason is the difficulty in getting the flights to get there.

Derek, there are plenty of flights but change in Moscow, rest assured there will be a load of blues out in Krasnodar as I will be one of them making my own way as the organised trips were just too expensive.

Or maybe we should all take John 'Aldo' Aldridge's advice and not travel to save the city more embarrassment.

So one Trinity Mirror publication has a "go" at another Trinity Mirror publication. And? It's not like there's been issues at Everton in the recent years worthy of press interest - but they're not interested.

Maybe the reason the trip was cancelled was it was an 8-hour each way slog with no overnight stay. And premium priced. Maybe people are savvy enough and thought "fuck that".

There's plenty of examples of teams, including our neighbours, playing away in Europe with a minibus load of away fans. Not too many examples of Blues though. If they can turn up to Kharkiv in the numbers they did, they'll get anywhere in their droves.

(When did anyone give a shit what the Mirror says anyway? Okay they sold Baines to Man Utd, Barkley to Chelsea and Coleman to Arsenal, but we still survived?)

How could anyone have the temerity to slag Everton's away support?

The away fans for Everton are amongst the best in the world for any club and distance doesn’t matter.
