Everton's John Stones has been nominated for the 2014 European Golden Boy award.

The 20 year-old is joined by nine other candidates from the Premier League and 30 other young stars from the Continent, including former Blues Eric Dier and Gerard Deulofeu, for the title which is decided by a panel of football journalists including representatives from Bild, De Telegraaf, l'Equipe, Marca and The Times.

Past holders of the accolade, the winners of which this year will be announced in December, include Lionel Messi, Wayne Rooney, Sergio Aguero, Cesc Fabregas and Mario Goetze.

As long as he is still at Everton, that is OK by me.

Hopefully when he's still playing for the Blues Steve.

Did Rooney win this playing for us or Man Utd?

Good luck to him. Hopefully the TV money keeps increasing and we can pay them a decent wage so they do stay together.

The list of names to have won this is fantastic.

Van der Vaart
Rooney
Messi
Fabregas
Aguero
Pato
Gotze
Isco
Pogba
John Stones would look great with those lot.

I missed out a couple of duds obviously. There's always a couple of shite thrown in. Anderson and Balotelli.

You'll see... we will keep all our young players and go on to win the league.

There was a lovely interview with Roberto in the Guardian. He stated that sometimes going to a so-called bigger club isn't the answer and mentioned M Owen leaving Liverpool, and then Liverpool winning the Champions Leagye next season!

Is that a joke, Linda @8?

Some good players on that list this year. Wouldn't mind seeing a few coming to Everton. Maybe Rabiot from PSG or Milik from Ajax or Praet from Anderlecht could be affordable ones.

I reckon Marquinhos must be one of the favourites to win. Englands best shot is dare I say it the RS Sterling...though happily their poor start should rule him out.

He's shite and injury prone. Nothing to see here, Europe's big guns.

So is Ross Barkley to save you scouting him.

Totally agree with you there, Darren!

Good luck, John, boy!

I went to another site to see that list. They allowed people to vote and that kid Milik from Ajax was running away with the vote.

To add to what Kieran said, that Hibbert fella is a world beater. He would be a bargain at 㿅mil.

Roberto says on SSN this morning, "John is making good progress but we are very comfortable with the centre-half position. Jagielka, Distin, Alcaraz. And Tyias Browning has shown he can play in this position. We shall not be looking to strengthen this in January."

So there you have it.
