Junior gets Celtic trial opportunity

Francisco Junior has the prospect of getting his career back on track with the chance to impress Celtic on trial this month.

The 22 year-old has made just one appearance for Everton since moving from Manchester City almost three years ago and has not yet featured in Roberto Martinez's first-team plans.

Celtic boss Ronny Deila has worked with the former Benfica youth player during the player's loan spell with Stromsgodset in Norway earlier this year and could take Junior on loan or on a permanent deal depending on Everton's plans for him.

Good luck to the lad, he looked good in pre-season 3 years ago, then had a shocker against Leeds Utd in league Cup then his career completely spiralled off-track. Shame really, the lad did look a good prospect at one point and I remember people likening him to Manny Fernandes.

He's never really excelled playing in week leagues in Holland and Norway, so I think the SPL might be about his level.

I donÂ’t think we ever gave this lad a chance apart from Moyes dropping him in the shit against Leeds in the Carling Cup along side a disinterested Fellaini.

Hope he does ok . Would like to see him back in our squad in future .

Mark, that Leeds game would have killed the career of many a good young player. It was a up there with the Martinez show on Saturday.

I could never claim to comprehend the workings of a football club the size of Everton, but here we have a young player with some skill and quite the pedigree in his youth development – yet he doesn't even register on our radar while we still OWN him!?

He is very small and maybe he's shit but I can empathize with Sr Francisco if he thinks he's been hard done by our club.
