Lennon: “I'm buzzing to be at Everton”

Despite the photographs of his arrival at Finch Farm that went viral last week, Aaron Lennon says he is he happy to be getting a chance of first-team football with Everton.

The winger says he doesn't do well with photos which explains the expressionless mugshots that were released to the press on his first day at the club's training complex and, after making his debut as a sub against Liverpool on Saturday, he is looking for more opportunities after being frozen out at Tottenham.

“I've been getting a lot of stick about the photos,” he admits in The Guardian. “It's all good banter though, on Twitter, from the lads here and from my mates as well. It's good fun and I am happy to be here.

"I'm not the best with photos at any time to be honest. My mum tells me that all the time. The photos might have turned out that way but I am buzzing to be at Everton.

“It's been a tough year and something I've not been used to before. I've been used to playing week-in, week-out throughout my career and this has been the first season when I've not been involved so it's been tough to deal with that. To get the opportunity to come to Everton and play again is unbelievable.

“[Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino] hasn't really explained why I've been left out," he continues. "He didn't say much at all, just that I could go when it came to the end of the window. A few clubs came in for me [including Stoke City and Hull City] but as soon as I heard Everton were in that was my only choice. Other than that I probably wouldn't have left. As soon as the call came I couldn't wait to get up the motorway.”

Please play him Roberto, do something right if you want to stay managing this club.

For the first time in a while, I'm actually excited about tonight's game. We aren't expected to get anything from it so I'm looking forward to seeing how we set ourselves up. Lennon should certainly start as Minik points out. COYB!

You've been warned, Roberto. You HAVE to play Robles, Garbutt, Besic, Oviedo and Lennon tonight. The rest are up to you.

You're too subtle, mate!

I think I recall Adrian Mutu said something similar when he joined Chelsea.

Don't care how buzzing he is. He's not good enough for us

Plenty of desire from Lennon. At one point he sprinted back from right wing to left back to help repel a Chelsea counter. Showed more desire to help the team in that play than Mirallas has all season.

I would've liked to have seen him attack Cesar more, particular after he was booked. The overlaps from Coleman actually prevented him from attacking on the outside a couple of times.

He should be up to speed in few weeks and, for now, I'm happy to have him on board.
