An Everton Under-19s squad will jet out to the USA on Thursday to take part in the Dallas Cup.

Academy coach Paul Tait will take a 20-man squad to Texas as the Premier League's only representatives as reward for winning the Under-18 League title last term.

The team will face Argentina's River Plate at the Cotton Bowl Stadium on the opening day on Sunday 29th March, play LA Galaxy the next day and then round out the group stage with a match against Japanese club Ryutsu-Keizai on 1st April.

“It's going to be a huge challenge with the big teams that we will play against - but it's going to be so important for the players' development and we're all very much looking forward to it," Tate said.

“To play River Plate in our opening game and on the opening day will be fantastic.

“There has been a real sense of excitement among the lads who will be going.”

Good luck lads, it'll be great experience for you but overall enjoy it.

So disappointed IÂ’m not free this weekend to go see them. IÂ’m from Dallas and live 3 hours away but I have to work this weekend.

First game vs River Plate, lost 3-1. I wasn't able to go either, but looks like an early exit for the lads!
