Season › 2014-15 › News U-19s lose Dallas Cup opener , 29 March, 8comments | Jump to most recent Everton Under-19s fell to a 3-1 defeat in their opening game of the Dallas Cup on Sunday evening. Tomas Andrade's effort gave the defending champions, River Plate, the lead at the break, before Kieran Dowell levelled with a fantastic 20-yard strike. But River Plate responded with two more goals courtesy of Emanuel Ventos and Federico Lavallen to resign the young Blues to a 1-3 defeat at the Cotton Bowl Stadium. Dowell remains confident that the young Blues can progress, though, starting with a win over LA Galaxy in their next outing. “We were gutted to lose but we've got to forget about it now and be positive ahead of the next game against LA Galaxy,” Dowell told evertontv. “I think it's vital for us to get a quick start because we need to think about goal difference as well. So, it's important to get off to a good start, get a few goals and put the game to bed early. “We're still confident of progressing, we know we are capable of doing it with the quality we have in the squad.” Everton U19s: Hewelt; Kenny, Graham (46' Birch [Y:56']), Connolly, Robinson, Ledson [Y:79'], Walsh (6' Davies); Dowell, Donohue (58' Brewster) Henen, Dyson (46' Holland). Subs not Used: O'Loughlin, Langton, Bainbridge. Everton's second Dallas Cup game will take place on Monday evening against LA Galaxy. Kick-off is 4 pm CDT (10 pm BST). Disclaimer Tommy Davis 1 Posted 30/03/2015 at 06:50:10 I wasn't able to go watch our U-19s first game against River Plate in the Dallas Cup, but apparently we lost 3-1, looks like an early exit then.... :-( Jimmy Salt 2 Posted 30/03/2015 at 07:05:31 We should sign their players who scored – their names sound ace. Ian Tunstead 3 Posted 30/03/2015 at 07:37:29 ThatÂs a very strong Everton squad there taught a lesson, many of them league winners and regulars for England at different levels. WouldnÂt surprise me if the names mentioned for River Plate go on to great things. Tim Greeley 4 Posted 30/03/2015 at 12:28:36 Good call Jimmy!! Bobby should be all over Emannuel Ventos and Federico Lavallen. Sign them now before those absurd new work Visa rules take effect. I demand it!! Oscar Huglin 5 Posted 30/03/2015 at 13:33:12 I watched this live. We looked very sloppy in possession and worryingly open at the back. They had 3 or 4 golden chances to put the game to bed before our equaliser (which was a stunner). Hopefully the lads grow into the tournament and improve, because I was far from impressed with what I saw last night.Let's just say it wasn't worth staying up until 2:30am. Harold Matthews 6 Posted 30/03/2015 at 13:44:16 Thanks for the brief report Oscar. Sounds like a typical 2015 Everton performance. John O'Brien 7 Posted 30/03/2015 at 18:05:27 Watched the game on live stream last night. Some poor defensive lapses but I thought the vision and touch of Kieran Dowell was a joy to watch and a superb move and strike for his goal off his weaker side. Harold Matthews 8 Posted 31/03/2015 at 02:09:55 Thanks John. Young Kieran is a classy prospect.
