Stallone rues not buying Everton when he had the chance

The Hollywood star says that he should have bought the Blues eight years ago when he could have afforded it but admits it would be beyond his resources now.

“If I knew what I know now I'd have snapped it up," the Rocky actor is quoted as saying in The Mirror.

“That was when football clubs were affordable but now it's a billionaire's game.

"I'd need to do one of these ads every day for the next 1,000 years...”

8 years ago Chelsea and Utd were probably already spending beyond his resources. Could he really have taken us up a notch? It took an Arab with billions to create new competition at the top.

I guess Sly could have bought us for somewhere between $ 100 and $130 million at that time? That may have been achievable if he came in with his Planet Hollywood consortium? Still, it was nice to see him come on the pitch one sunny day. Goodison is both our history and, sadly, the millstone around our neck when it comes to investment, but who knows? Win a trophy and we might just bag a sugar daddy!

While it's true that his finances alone can't quite cut it, the fact remains, Stallone has been known to be very savvy. Given his long standing reputation and connections in the entertainment business, I think he might open a lot more doors for other investors, to take the Everton brand into the US a lot more than what Blue Bill can do.

I thought he had bought the club this season as things have been rocky all year and nearly culminated in a cliffhanger.

StalloneÂ’s comments tells us all why Boys Pen Billy isnÂ’t selling, despite looking 24/7 for a buyer.

I think the finances still would've been rocky...

Okay, I'll get me coat.

"If I knew what I know now I'd have snapped it up."

As would any viable investor. The club is a 'Cash Cow' with the Sky cash. Rich pickings indeed for Mr Green and his cronies and no end in sight for our pain.

Terence (6),

Stallone must be very savvy to make all that money with very little talent. I wasted two hours of my life watching that first Rocky film... Never again, must be one of the worst actors in Hollywood history.

We have already had one too many Rocky times over the years.
