Clean sheets for Howard and Funes Mori

Argentina beat Colombia while the United States ground out a goalless draw in Trinidad and Tobago in World Cup qualifying last night.

Both Everton players were named in their respective country's starting line-ups and each had successful evenings from a defensive point of view.

Funes Mori earned his fifth cap for Argentina as they beat the Colombians 1-0 while it was Howard's turn to play as Jurgen Klinsmann continued his policy of alternating between Brad Guzan and the Everton 'keeper, handing the 36 year-old his 30th appearance in World Cup qualifying.

Have only seen brief highlights, so cannot comment on his performance but the Argies have done well defensively when RFM has played.

Funes Mori seems to be impressing every time he is played whether it's for club or country. I'm far from Roberto's biggest fan but he seems to be getting a lot of his transfers spot on.

Other than Alcaraz on a free, McGeady (who's shite but was cheap and we will get our tenner back for him) plus Robles (who was only a back-up), he seems to have done well.

There's not much logic in the thought process of what I'm about to post, it's just simply as I see it. Anyways, here goes....

Tim Howard keeping a clean sheet and returning to international duty may be a good thing for Everton.

Yes, he has a lot of travelling to do again now but the fact remains that Howard, since quitting the national team, has been as poor as he has been since joining us. Maybe the return to the international stage will get him back on track as he's been a very reliable keeper for us in the past.

Bring back the real Tim Howard, the goalkeeper who was raved over 18 months ago in the last World Cup.

If all else fails, he may be able to sort himself a new club out while he is back Stateside. ;-)
