Season › 2015-16 › News Ledson joins Cambridge on loan , 20 November, 24comments | Jump to most recent Ryan Ledson is the latest Everton U21 player to be handed an opportunity to get valuable first-team experience with a loan move to Cambridge United. The 18-year-old will stay at the Abbey Stadium until at least 3rd January when the League Two side would have the option of extending the deal. This move will help Ledson a great deal, he and a lot of young players at Everton (and at a host of senior clubs) are just stagnating playing in the U21s, the style of football played there, mostly non-contact football definitely doesn’t help or improve their game. Hopefully he can push on with this loan as I feel his trajectory has stalled somewhat recently and I think he was dropped from the England U19s for a game or two.We clearly have a batch of talented 16- to 19-year-olds currently and the club has to ensure that they get as close to their potential as possible.
