True, Michael, but it’s not something new that you're telling the fans who watch us on a weekly basis, we’ve been saying this for a few years now!

I knew that we would miss Jagielka as he is the mentor for so many of these youngsters playing in defence. We miss both Jags and Baines and when those two are fit we will improve our goals against stats.Stones, Mori and Galloway all relax much more and play far more calmly and controlled when Jags is in amongst them.

We are two players away from being serious contenders. A young goalkeeper who is big enough and confident enough to command his 6 yard box and a player of Yarmolenko’s stature and ability.

In America, we have a saying about young and talented sports teams: First, they need to learn how to play together; then they need to learn how to overcome adversity in games; and then they need to learn how to win.

This is a very young team and there is not one player, except Barry maybe, who has ever won anything (correct me if I’m wrong). I look at the Tottenham game and feel they would have lost that one last season and that draw looks better every week.

This is a young team and there will be ups and downs. Perhaps RM can do better managing games at times but the players will lose some games while they learn to win.

These are not ruthless, grizzled veterans, they are kids. They will get better at closing out games.

Jimmy Mac won the FA Cup with Wigan, Michael, but I can’t think of too many more! Until we win the Cup... One Cup obviously

Funes Mori has won the Copa Libertadores which is huge. Hibbo has won tons of awards for... fishing.

Trevor (2), I think you’re spot on with the summary of how close we are to being a regular winning team. Obviously injuries and form means the mix will come and go but I have a strong hunch (wish perhaps) that Yarmolenko will be joining us I hope sooner than later.

The big goalie you are calling for could be right under our nose, ie, Robles. I used to play in goal in my youth and that is one position where you need continuity and consistency. How he is supposed to have that with the current cup games only nonsense is beyond me. However, when he has played he has looked good, with potential to settle well into the role. You get the feeling he will stop what comes at him. With Howard you feel it is a disaster as soon as the ball is in the air and floating towards the box.

Another potential ’off the wall’ improvement may come when / if Baines and or Besic have a chance in midfield. However, Barry has been fantastic so far this season so let’s not overlook him also.
