U21s fall to Reading defeat

Everton's Under-21s lost for the second game in succession as they were 2-0 bested by Reading at Southport this evening.

An early goal by Harry Cardwell was added to by Joseph Barrett late in the second half. Kieran Dowell struck the woodwork.

The Blues struggled to create any clearcut chances after the break. It forced Unsworth into a double change on the hour mark as striker Calum Dyson and Gethin Jones replaced Henen and Leandro Rodriguez.

Everton U21sHewelt, Mattioni, Foulds, Davies, Holgate, Thorniley, Henen (Dyson), Williams, C Duffus, Rodriguez (Jones), Dowell. Subs: Gray, Charsley, Evans.

Looking like all the loan deals for our younger lads are affecting the results. The U21 is to help develop the next generation though, so I’m not going to worry too much.

Let's just hope the lads who have gone away return better for their experiences.
