Disclaimer Simon Smith 2 Posted 23/07/2016 at 19:25:25 By the sounds of things, Rhino doing a great job with the U-21s.....Long may it continue ðŸ‘🻠Paul Thompson 3 Posted 23/07/2016 at 19:29:34 Not the greatest game, but hard fought. Defence was solid, but not enough creativity or sharpness near goal. Charsley's goal was excellent. Considering some of the best young players were at Barnsley, this was a good result. Henen caught the eye with strong running and good all round game, but he's not an out and out striker. Duffus when he came on didn;t make much of an impression. New boy Sambou is lively but raw. Robinson was good at full back. Another young lad, Baningime, very solid in the holding midfield role. Eric Holland 4 Posted 23/07/2016 at 19:40:53 Paul don't think Henen was there, mate.Menen, on the other hand, had a great game according to the official team sheet?!? Dean Peamum 5 Posted 23/07/2016 at 19:41:02 Charsley curled a cracker! Well done lads. Paul Thompson 6 Posted 23/07/2016 at 20:12:48 Eric. I'm pretty sure that Menen is Henen! Eric Holland 7 Posted 23/07/2016 at 20:17:48 Yes Paul I know!I had to laugh every time the commentator said Menen.. Dave Abrahams 8 Posted 23/07/2016 at 20:40:59 Baningime is a young French player who is good on the ball and puts in plenty of tackles, played well for the youths last season until he was injured.Does anyone know the team who played today? Fran Mitchell 9 Posted 23/07/2016 at 21:05:56 Charsley seems to be getting mentioned a lot. Anyone know more of the lad? Paul Thompson 10 Posted 23/07/2016 at 21:09:09 I don't think Baningime is French, Dave. He's been on our books since he was nine and was born in the DR Congo (and is eligible to play for England). Incidentally one of the Celtic lads was sent off for a nasty tackle on Beni. Phill Thompson 11 Posted 23/07/2016 at 21:56:53 Strange this "French" thing about Baningime had been posted here before, as Paul says he's not. He really shone in the Dallas tournament we won earlier in the year and has made an excellent start this season. He's got lots of energy and composure on the ball, still a 2nd year Scholar too. Dave Abrahams 12 Posted 24/07/2016 at 08:53:21 Paul and Phill I'll bow to your superior knowledge, I'm sure I read somewhere that he had French connections but I'll accept that that report was wrong. David Milner 13 Posted 24/07/2016 at 09:24:33 Dave @12DR Congo was originally Belgium Congo & the official language is FRENCH. Does this solve the mystery?Henen aka Menen is Belgium. Made me laugh a lot too. Nice to see the match live on YouTube also. Gareth Clark 14 Posted 24/07/2016 at 09:35:41 Does anyone have a link to the starting line up of this game? I would like to have a look at who played. Barry McNally 15 Posted 24/07/2016 at 09:58:27 Link Gareth, presume they played 1 to 11. Gareth Clark 16 Posted 24/07/2016 at 10:04:38 Thank you, Barry! Paul Thompson 17 Posted 24/07/2016 at 10:29:12 Gareth - I can't find a starting line-up even on the OS. BNut you can find a good run down of the side and game on GOT's youth team thread:LinkAs is pointed out there, this was mostly a second string U21s, so they did well. On the commentator calling Henen, Menen, apparently he was innocently repeating a mistake in the programme! Gareth Clark 18 Posted 24/07/2016 at 10:33:45 Thanks Paul! David Milner 19 Posted 24/07/2016 at 10:36:37 Starting lineup:- Matteusz Hewelt;Gethin Jones, Matty Foulds, Morgan Feeney, Antonee Robinson;Harry Charsle, Benni Baningime, Tony Evans;David Henen, Bassalla Sambou, Callum Dyson. Paul Ellam 20 Posted 24/07/2016 at 10:40:22 Well done lads. Let's hope this is just the beginning of the silverware for our club! Dave Abrahams 21 Posted 24/07/2016 at 11:36:51 I presume never played because he was banned after getting sent off in the semi final. Dave Abrahams 22 Posted 24/07/2016 at 11:38:14 Sorry, I left Liam Walsh out there. John Dean 23 Posted 24/07/2016 at 13:04:37 I thought Matty Foulds had a really strong game. His timing of interceptions and ball control is very good and he's strong in the tackle. He looks and plays a little like Norman Hunter, all left foot but what a left foot. Joe Duffin 24 Posted 24/07/2016 at 18:14:20 Good run out for U-21s, and to be honest the scoreline flattered Celtic. They had a few chances, but Everton bossed the game. In my view, Antonee Robinson was our best; he is strong in tackle, very skillful and an absolute whippet. Charlsey was good and his goal took a slight deflection, Henen was okay (his strike partner had an amazing work rate allowing him more room). More clinical play in box area and we would have had a few more, particularly after the sending off for the Celtic player in second half.BTW Walsh wasn't playing as he was suspended after the semi-final. Overall a good game. Nice to see ex-players Jeffers and Alan Harper mixing with the small crowd, and also Brian Flynn there (I think he is a scout for Everton). Michael Kenrick 25 Posted 24/07/2016 at 21:24:21 Dave, I think Walsh was suspended in view of his red card in the first game, and you already have 11 there in the starting line-up, which I have copied into the lead story.Seems that Duffus and Kiersey came on as subs... any idea who for? Saegaran Kana 27 Posted 25/07/2016 at 01:48:43 Well done boys and David. Lets win Premier 2 this season!
