The Blues were hoping to finalise three friendlies in the Netherlands as part of their pre-season preparations but a statement issued by Everton has confirmed that they couldn't reach an agreement with Groningen's mayor over hosting the match. They won't have lost much sharpness in that time as professional athletes. Sounds like a case of all work and no play etc etc. The first friendly listed on the official site is a game in Tanzania on 13th July.Why does Groningen's mayor have a role in arranging friendlies?
