U18s lose at Stoke City

Everton U18s came unstuck against Stoke City U18s by the odd goal in three scored in the last 10 mins to lose Saturday's game 2-1 at the Clayton Wood Training Ground.

Mampala thumped the woodwork on 62 minutes and 17 minutes later spurned a good opportunity from close range.

But they “switched off” late into the game after conceding on 85 and 87 minutes. But despite centre-back Elliot Richards stabbing home in the dying stages to halve Everton's deficit, the visitors could not extend their six-match unbeaten league run.

Everton U18s: Johnson [Y]; Moore, Duke-McKenna, Collins, Richards; Denny, Scully (57' Zuk); Adedoyin (65' Simms), Gordon, Iversen [Y], Mampala.
Subs not Used: Murphy, McKeown, Anderson.

Sounds like the U18s were unlucky.

The U23s won their first game since October today, beating Spurs 2-1, coming from behind. Both goals from Anthony Evans. Baxter played well apparently.

Unsworth said this: “Even at 1-0 down, I know that whatever team we put out, we are not going to settle for that. From the first day I got this job, the team spirit and the team ethic has never been in question. I have honest lads who love playing for Everton."

What price to have a first team manager who could say the same about the first team?
