Everton Under-18s advanced into the semi-finals of the Premier League Cup with a 2-0 win over Fulham at USM Finch Farm.

After a tight opening, the young Blues opened the scoring with the game's first real chance. Anthony Gordon and Stephen Duke-McKenna combined before Gordon produced a fine finish from close-range.

Korede Adedoyin then went close to doubling the young Blues' lead - but the forward's header from Nathan Moore's cross was comfortably dealt with by the Fulham goal keeper.

The opening 15 minutes of the second half saw the home team soak up a considerable amount of pressure, but some resolute defending by the young Blues kept the visitors at bay.

And with 20 minutes remaining, the Everton sealed their passage into the last four. Elliot Richards headed Duke-McKenna's free-kick goalwards before the ball was deflected into his own net by Abraham.

Ten minutes from time and the visitors were reduced to 10 men after Nicolas Santos saw red for a late tackle on Joe Anderson, before Tait's side went close to adding a third in stoppage time as substitute Pawel Zuk headed against the post.

Everton U18s: Hansen, Moore, Anderson, Collins, Richards [Y], Denny, Adedoyin, Scully (69' Iversen), Mampala, Duke-McKenna, Gordon (69' Zuk).
Subs not used: Murphy, Simms, McKeown.

Gordinho strikes again. Obviously these kids currently operate in the shadow of the U23s but a sense of their ability is starting to emerge and it is good.

The clip of Gordon's goal last week is worth watching, a beautiful, curving right footer to the top corner. We're obviously managing him with care as you'd expect him to be featuring in the U23s, I'm sure that will come before too long.

Haha Geoff, think we'll get that a few more times in future, Joe Anderson is indeed a full time First Year Scholar who plays at full back, and a part time Mayor.
