Everton U18s needed a penalty late in the second half to overcome Stoke City, tucked away by Kieran Phillips at Finch Farm today.

The young Blues started with real intent and went close through Phillips and Ellis Simms inside the opening 10 minutes. Everton continued to dominate with Simms seeing an effort blocked and Hunt's effort well saved after the winger had collected Bobby Carroll's through ball. Goalkeeper Harry Tyrer remained untested in the opening 45 minutes.

In the second period, Simms once again force a save before Carroll and Joe Anderson both fired over. But 2 minutes from time, Carroll was fouled from behind and, captain Phillips coolly converted the spot-kick.

Their 5th straight win in the U18 Premier League means they extend their lead at the top of the table with a fine 100% record.

Anyone see this game? I would appreciate a little feedback on who stood out.
