Season › 2019-20 › News Connolly joins Lincoln Thursday, 29 August, 2019 14comments | Jump to most recent Callum Connolly has secured another loan opportunity by signing for last night's League Cup opponents Lincoln City until the end of the season. The defender, who has had prior spells at Bolton Wanderers, Wigan Athletic, Barnsley and Ipswich Town, said on the League One club's website: "There have been a few people at Everton who have recommended Lincoln to me as a great club and hopefully it can be as good as the reviews I've received." Disclaimer Mike Gaynes 1 Posted 29/08/2019 at 15:40:44 I call this good news. Based on what I saw of Lincoln, he will be well coached and surrounded by a strong support system. Connolly turns 22 next month, and it's time for him to step up if he's going to. Otherwise, this could represent his farewell. Kevin Prytherch 2 Posted 29/08/2019 at 15:53:01 Callum Connolly going to Lincoln on loan? That's about as underwhelming as Broadhead going to Burton. I don't think we'll ever see him in an Everton shirt if he's dropping from the Championship to League One at this stage in his career. Kieran Kinsella 3 Posted 29/08/2019 at 21:29:43 I would imagine Holgate and Keane told him Lincoln are amazing. Mike Gaynes 4 Posted 29/08/2019 at 21:33:59 Sure did appear yesterday that Lincoln has excellent coaching.Connolly turns 22 next month... seems like this might be his last chance. Mike Gaynes 5 Posted 29/08/2019 at 21:34:29 Sure did appear yesterday that Lincoln has excellent coaching.Connolly turns 22 next month... seems like this might be his last chance. Derek Knox 6 Posted 29/08/2019 at 21:34:52 I think if the spirit they showed last night is typical, (even though it was a one-off game) it will serve Callum well at this make or break point in his career, to spend a season with them.Like I said last night, I could imagine the neutral viewers, being thoroughly entertained by last night's game, most probably licking their lips at the possibility of a Giant Killing in progress. Obviously it was a lot more tenuous for us Blues until the latter stages, when they were running out of steam and ideas. It's almost a full time job, these days keeping tabs on our loaned out players, but I will be following the progress of Callum, over the weeks and as always, wish him all the best. Peter Mills 7 Posted 30/08/2019 at 06:44:22 Lincoln's manager Danny Cowley and his assistant, brother Nicky, have a superb managerial record from their days at Concord Rangers and more lately at Lincoln City. They work as a team, so much so that although Danny is technically the boss, he gives some of his salary to his brother to give him pay parity.I believe they do a very good “good cop, bad copâ€, although nobody ever knows who is going to be the nice guy. I didn't have the best view of the game on Wednesday, a poor stream on a tablet in a pub in deepest Cumbria, but they certainly seemed to have their team well set up and motivated. And they rested 5 of their normal starting 11. I will keep an eye on Callum Connolly. And on their coaches. Eddie Dunn 8 Posted 30/08/2019 at 08:15:44 This has to be good news for Callum Connolly, a good little club with young, well respected coaches. The brand of attacking football on Wednesday night was very impressive. This has to be better than the under 23's and a chance for him to go in the shop window. David Milner 9 Posted 30/08/2019 at 14:09:41 This is good news for Callum Connolly, Lincoln looked a very well organised side & were difficult to play against for long periods. Watched the match live on DAZN here in Spain & were impressed by Lincoln & their manager. If he gets a regular birth then he has the opportunity to impress both MS & MB. Jerome Shields 10 Posted 30/08/2019 at 15:09:46 Connolly should to sell at Lincoln City. They are a good footballing side. Arild Andersen 11 Posted 30/08/2019 at 18:23:50 I liked the look of Connolly in some preseasonmatches a couple of season ago. Hope he'll do well. Andrew Grey 12 Posted 30/08/2019 at 21:03:02 The Lincoln owner is an Everton supporter so maybe if they get any gems we could be first in line. :) Jack Convery 13 Posted 31/08/2019 at 01:47:10 They'll toughen him up. Lincoln is one of the best-run clubs in the country and their managers do a great job. They were playing in the same league as Southport 2 seasons a go. Justin Doone 14 Posted 03/09/2019 at 09:15:26 As a young defender he still has a few years left to find his level. What's most important is playing against professionals in a competitive league. If he becomes a regular for Lincoln then it's a good move for all.At the end of the season his performances will be assesed. Good luck to him and all Evertonions.
