Season › 2019-20 › News Liverpool thrash U18s 6 - 1 at Finch Farm Saturday, 5 October, 2019 19comments | Jump to most recent Everton Under-18s fell to a humiliating 6-1 Merseyside derby loss at Finch Farm on Saturday. The young Blues went into Saturday's Premier League (North) clash in fine form, having won three on the spin, and took the lead through England Under-17 international Tyler Onyango. But two late first-half strikes saw Liverpool edge ahead before the visitors hit four more in the second half. Onyango celebrated his England Under-17s call up in the best possible way with an eighth-minute opener. After a teasing ball into the box struck the post, Onyango was in the right place at the right time to slide the ball home. Everton continued to carve out chances, this time the post coming to the away side's rescue after Thomas Cannon's sweetly-struck volley. Then, just minutes later, Cannon was in the thick of it again, heading over from Reece Hughes' free-kick. Article continues below video content With just minutes left of the first-half, those missed opportunities came back to bite the home side as Liverpool took the lead and never looked back. The international break means Everton are without a game next weekend. Everton U18s: McIntyre, Hosie, Lowey, Welch, D Thompson (83' Hagan), Hughes [Y], Quirk, Onyango, Cannon (88' M Thompson), Warrington (62' Carroll), Dobbin. Subs not Used: Barrett, Higgins. Disclaimer Dave Abrahams 1 Posted 04/10/2019 at 13:14:14 It should on paper be a high scoring game: Everton have scored 22 goals in 5 games and are one point behind their rivals with a game in hand on Liverpool, who have scored 20 goals in 6 games. Peter Gorman 2 Posted 05/10/2019 at 09:40:18 So 0-0 then, Dave Dave Abrahams 3 Posted 05/10/2019 at 11:47:30 Onyango scored early for Everton, Liverpool had a header cleared off the line. Cannon has hit the post twice and Dobbin has a goal disallowed for offside. Dave Abrahams 4 Posted 05/10/2019 at 11:58:29 Half time, what a turn around, Liverpool score two minutes before the interval Rourke and then Stewart with a soft penalty. Everton should have been four up before THEY scored, Onyango nearly got an equaliser just before the whistle went for half time.Come on, lads, try and cheer us up before the match finishes.Stewart is the 16-year-old Liverpool signed from Fulham, they are asking ٥M for him, which will likely go to a tribunal to sort out. Derek Knox 5 Posted 05/10/2019 at 12:14:15 Dave, is it on TV anywhere? Dave Abrahams 6 Posted 05/10/2019 at 12:19:43 Derek, it must be on tv somewhere but I'm just getting updates off another website, can't get the game myself. I've tried YouTube without success but to be honest, I'm fuckin' thick getting stuff without my grandson and he's gone to Burnley. Derek Knox 7 Posted 05/10/2019 at 12:22:01 Thanks mate! Dave Abrahams 8 Posted 05/10/2019 at 12:40:28 It's now 1-4 to Liverpool, we've gone to pieces since those two goals before half time. Welch o.g. for Liverpool's third, no record up to now who scored their fourth. Fuck it, I'm off to the betting shop to give the bookie his weekly money. I haven't had a decent win for ages, so I'll have to cry today's bet home. Everton at Burnley won't be on it, what a bleedin' life!!! Karl Jones 9 Posted 05/10/2019 at 13:04:18 Everton v Liverpool..So predictable this last half century. Dave Abrahams 10 Posted 05/10/2019 at 13:17:09 It got worse Karl, finished 1-6, couldn'tbe bothered to look for their scorers, fourth, fifth and sixth, like you say, you could write the scripts for all Derby at every level, as soon as the tide turns we drown. Paul Birmingham 11 Posted 05/10/2019 at 13:18:28 Pick pocketed again and mental melt down, sadly a trait of EFC over the last 30 years v RS. Sam Hoare 12 Posted 05/10/2019 at 13:23:56 Good to prepare them young! Karl Jones 13 Posted 05/10/2019 at 13:27:23 The whole mentality that runs through the club is wrong. You see it in the first team. When they go behind, they crumble. Dave Unsworth is the only one who has an "Everton is better than anyone else" attitude that transmits to the players. Dave Williams 14 Posted 05/10/2019 at 15:17:03 Karl, absolutely right. I am pretty depressed at that result and then saw the selection for Burnley!! Phil Greenough 15 Posted 05/10/2019 at 19:15:01 Don't want to be the grammar police, but could you change the trash to thrash please? Let's not call the Liverpool side names. 😠Lenny Kingman 16 Posted 05/10/2019 at 19:21:42 Not looking good now, obviously, or in the future, most likely. Peter Gorman 17 Posted 05/10/2019 at 20:24:44 What a weekend Phill Thompson 18 Posted 06/10/2019 at 03:21:13 Hate losing to them at any level. Dave #4, it's Harvey Elliott you're thinking of that they nicked from Fulham, he's with their U23s and sometimes first team training. Despite the result I'm sure they'll bounce back, this year's intake is the best since the Davies, Dowell, Connolly, Walsh intake. So if we can get 2 or 3 up to U23s early then onto the first team squad we'll be doing well. Dobbin, Onyango and young centre back Reece Welch are the most promising so far, with the likes of Tom Cannon and Lewis Warrington also not far behind. With their young age they'll likely get better as the season progresses, im optimistic and putting down as a blip :-) Dave Abrahams 19 Posted 07/10/2019 at 13:32:28 Phill (18), yes of course Harvey Elliot, did he play last week for the first team in the league cup?Yes we have some good young players coming through and I hope you are right that result on Saturday is only a blip: but what a score to have against you and even worse was the team that hit us with those six goals!!
