Disclaimer Andy Walker 1 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:20:58 Silva.Unluckiest manager ever. Craig Walker 2 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:21:25 Can this season get any worse? Of all the shit teams we could have got. John Raftery 3 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:22:22 Twice in three seasons! Stephen Driscoll 4 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:22:35 Can this season get any bloody worse? David Greenwood 5 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:22:58 Silva won't be anywhere near the cup game Andy. Brian Porter 6 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:23:33 Don't we just get all the luck? Jim Bennings 7 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:23:40 Well we have got to end that hoodoo against them some day haven't we?How many cracks at them do we want to pass up?By the time we play them they will hopefully be running on fumes and won't prioritise the FA Cup. Steve Croston 8 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:23:47 Hahahaha, I suppose anything could happen, but it is just hilarious! Up the Blues 😠Tony Abrahams 9 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:24:53 I had a funny feeling this might happen, let's get ready to rumble! Phil Greenough 10 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:26:10 Fuck all down for this season now, got to be shit to be a young blue in this city. Frank Crewe 11 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:26:15 The Footie Gods are really taking the piss out of us this season. Chris Neubauer 12 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:26:38 God, I'm so fucking pissed off, Craig Walker 13 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:27:03 We wouldn't beat them if we signed Messi and Ronaldo in January. This club is cursed. Dave Williams 14 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:27:10 Beat them!!Take it on!!Sod the negativity and show no fear!! Richard Lyons 15 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:27:21 Where's Dan Gosling when you need him? Mark Guglielmo 16 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:28:13 I mean, it IS just funny at this point.I suggest everyone google "John Travolta Pulp Fiction gif" because that's the reaction I imagine we all must be having. I promise it's SFW (safe for work) and nothing offensive. Rudi Coote 17 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:28:14 We do okay against the RS apart from semis and finals. Keep the faith. ⚽⚽ Ian Edwards 18 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:28:17 Cursed. Absolutely cursed. May as well just prioritise the League to stay up. Colin Metcalfe 19 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:29:44 We are without a shadow a doubt one of the most unlucky clubs in the football league ! Chris Neubauer 20 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:30:09 I was hoping for a bit a cup run, oh no! out before it's even started Ian Jones 21 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:30:37 Craig, we probably wouldn't get the paperwork in on time to make them eligible for the cup match!I am not sure whether it would be Liverpool's choice to play us. We'll also get them in the next rounds of the Carabao cup. Might as well do the Cup Double over them Alan McGuffog 22 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:31:15 Early exit. Concentrate on top six finish. Alex Kociuba 23 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:32:08 Top 6!? Phil Greenough 24 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:32:39 We would Ian, but it would get lost on the way. Mark Young 25 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:33:14 You couldn't make it up! Sam Hoare 26 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:34:02 Loving this season! Liam Reilly 27 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:34:15 Harsh draw, away also. Klippety understands what this game means also, so can't see him making wholesale changes either. Bring on Wednesdays Dress Rehearsal. John Quilliam 28 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:34:23 Jim #7Agree entirely & sod the negativity. Tony Abrahams 29 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:35:10 Champions at the outbreak of two world wars, and then banned from Europe for nothing, when we had just assembled one of our best ever teams. Of course we are unlucky, but we have always had a lot of fight, so let's just hope we find it again very soon. John Kavanagh 30 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:35:35 The sooner we get rid of the Jonah Silva the better. The guy attracts bad luck like a cowpat attracts flies. Dave Lynch 31 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:35:42 Be realistic. Can we afford the extra games of the FA cup when where fighting premiership survival?I'd rather go out early and secure prem survival.Saying that, we haven't lost yet. Joe McMahon 32 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:35:46 Why is it always at bloody Anfield. I've said it before and got laughed off this site, but i'll say it again, there is a Hex on Everton Football Club. The luck that goes aganst Everton is inconceivable. Ray Smith 33 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:36:10 Yes it's a tough draw, however, all you doubters should take stock of your knee jerk reactions. It's a game of 90 minutes. A one off, why can't we win?The odds are against us, but why should that attract a defeatist attitude. Some of you give up before it's over.True blues always believe. So should you. Alan McGuffog 34 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:36:15 Alex yeah. Don't quite see us getting a top 4 finish John Belshaw 35 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:36:20 Everton - quite possibly - the unluckiest club in the world play Liverpool AWAY in the F.A. Cup. Poor Silva - it really can't get any worse for him although the chances of him being around in January are looking exceedingly slim. Paul Jeronovich 36 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:36:56 Could potentially be smashed by Liverpool 5 times in one season. One bastard of a draw that. Frank Sheppard 37 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:37:13 Karma Jim Bennings 38 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:37:26 I'm backing that we bring them back here, and put them out after a replay. How about a cheeky loan deal for Dan Gosling beforehand? Kim Vivian 39 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:37:34 Just when people have been saying that Weds will be our last thrashing at Mordor for a few seasons. However - Liverpool have a lot of football to play between now and then and the toll may just be telling with fatigue/injuries etc. by then. We have to turn them over sometime. If Silva provides a miracle on Weds and starts getting the roll of the dice for a couple of games subsequently, we may well see him in charge still come January. I'm still hoping he can because none of the viable alternatives being mooted are lighting my dials up particularly... ....except maybe Jay's man Jesus. And that would be a miracle. Paul Hughes 40 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:38:29 Well, at least the season won't be over if we get knocked out in January. We've got the grim struggle against relegation to keep us on the edge of our seats until May. Pete Fishwick 41 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:38:53 Unbelievable - Guess we could have put money on that - As soon as I saw Liverpool come out First I knew it - Play the kids and show the rest what they can do John Raftery 42 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:39:01 In a relegation battle the last thing we need is a cup run but I look forward to the RS losing in three cup competitions in less than three weeks: the Carabao, the FIFA thing and the FA Cup. They already look knackered. Jürgen Klopp, your boys are in for one hell of a beating! Craig Walker 43 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:39:05 We've got a secret weapon though. A man who knows how to win at Anfield. David Moyes. Oh. Wait a minute Minik Hansen 44 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:39:34 Am I the only one looking forward to it, COYB, another possibility to get them right in our former ground, to break that curse. Through thick and thin, wearing blue proudly. John Cartwright 45 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:39:44 Concentrate on a top 16 finish more like Daniel A Johnson 46 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:39:47 Were cursed, a season where they win the league we get relegated and the stadium falls through is possibly on the cards?Hysterical ramblings of an idiot or the workings of some dark voodoo magic? Tony Abrahams 47 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:40:00 Thanks Ray Smith, because imagine being a Liverpudlian reading some of these posts. Michael Lynch 48 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:40:23 On the bright side, we'll be able to concentrate on the relegation battle under our new manager, and it might be an opportunity to fuck up the RS's January because they'll have to play a full-strength side and might pick up a few injuries. In the real world though, what the absolute fuck? I am truly hating this season. Stu Gore 49 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:40:33 Three opportunities to beat them this season. Good stuff Mark Andersson 50 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:40:57 Thats great news nothing better than a challenge to focus on thats why these professional highly paid players earn so much...No pressure on the players its just another match to them...As Jim says we have to beat them at some point.. Maybe get big Joe in for the end of the season or big Dunc or big Sam or Big Nev or Biggles... Brent Stephens 51 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:41:07 Rs will be out for revenge after this Wednesday. Ray Smith 52 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:41:29 Most of you have given up already! It's a one off 90 minutes.Yes the odds are against, but why give up before we have even entered the arena!!!! Mark Guglielmo 53 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:42:04 John @30 you have the distinction of being the first person here to find a way to blame Silva for this draw. Yes, the bad luck started when we hired him, not, oh I don't know, 45 years prior. Chris Leyland 54 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:42:27 We will win that cup game. Mark my words. That will be their 10th game in 24 days. They will be knackered. They have Spurs away and United in the two games after the cup game against us. Kim Vivian 55 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:43:44 What odds for the triple, Stu? Mike Doyle 56 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:45:08 Mark - you might remind John that it is customary to blame Hibbert and/or Osman for these issues. Rob Dolby 57 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:47:11 Poor old Marco must have been a right bastard in a previous life. The only thing that can save him is a walk through Stanley park to stand in as much dog shite humanly possible. He must feel like Tom Hanks at the begining of saving private Ryan. No hiding place. To get out of this mess there is only one manager who can pull it off. Go and get Jason Statham. It does all feel like a bad movie doesn't it. If it wasn't for bad luck we would have no luck at all. Bill Gall 58 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:47:11 Amazing only 2 fixtures have premier teams facing each other and we are one of them. The other is M.Utd v Wolves. I wonder what odds you could have got at the bookies of Liverpool v Everton. Lee Gorre 59 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:48:28 Slightly off topic but do Man City ever get any difficult ties? Peter Mills 60 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:48:41 Great draw, get the bastards out of the way early in the competition. Graham Coldron 61 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:49:39 I fully expected either R.S. or Man City ( away of course). I've always said we are unlucky especially in the fa and league cups. The Darracott mistake at the theatre of nightmares in 77 and the Maine Road semi in the same season are still vivid as is Lampard's diving header in the 1980 semi. But that's in the past.Let's go and smash these and put two fingers up to the rest of the country. Mark Guglielmo 62 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:49:43 Chris @54 is that true? My best mate (a RS die-hard) just texted me that he believes it's 12 in 30! Rob Halligan 63 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:50:17 Bill, I'm not one for working out odds, but wouldn't it be 32/1,_seeing as there are 32 games? Tony McNulty 64 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:50:40 Continuing the movie theme I would cite Tom Cruise:"And the hits just keep on coming." Andrew Hight 65 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:51:05 Words marked Chris. They could start the game with one outfield player and no goalkeeper and we still wouldn't get a result Pat Kelly 66 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:51:19 That'll be a difficult moment. John P McFarlane 67 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:51:21 A relegation battle and a cup run ended in triumph in 1995 - it won't necessarily happen this time but we have to retain some hope even if it is false hope. Paul Tran 68 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:53:15 Stuff this pessimism. Get a manager in who can organise, inspire and give us our identity back. Go there and beat them on live telly in front of a Blue Road End. Rob Halligan 69 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:53:32 I bet Marco Silva wishes he was Tom Hanks in the film Castaway. Brian Wilkinson 70 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:53:49 All we need now is Van Dijk lifting the ballon d or to cap off a shite season. Jamie Evans 71 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:53:52 I think the phrase I'm looking for rhymes with clucking bell. Brian Wilkinson 72 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:55:43 Graham you missed Hanson's hand ball in the 84 Milk cup final. Joe McMahon 73 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:57:16 Craig @43, even the much maligned Samuel Allardyce has a better record at Anfield than David Moyes, he won there with Palace when Klopp was manager. Paul Birmingham 74 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:59:16 Sod's law, but their spawniness must run out soon, they've had the fortune cookies, in abundance, but they will run out. They are not playing well but winning, we are playing very poorly, but they have a heavy fixture schedule coming up. This Everton is giving too many self inflicted errors, and I don't see no sign of any Captain on the park. Game management and focus, surely this is a basic that shouldn't be forgotten every week? This is an issue for many years now and needs resolving quickly.Let's see where EFC is after Wednesday night. We have done this fixture in the past so it's doable, and I'd take a return at GP, to spike their season. John Kavanagh 75 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:59:47 John @67. Ah what memories. Is Joe Royle free? What would we give for a Joe Parkinson in our side right now. James Marshall 76 Posted 02/12/2019 at 19:59:47 I genuinely can't remember the last time we beat them, home or away. Was it the Gosling/ad break in the cup whenever the fuck that was?Christ. So now we get to lose to them 3 times this season. Wonderful news on top of the news that Silva is taking our mob to Mordor on Wednesday. Eric Paul 77 Posted 02/12/2019 at 20:00:56 The chances are the RS won't win the FA cup someone will beat them so why not us, let's start their demise on Wednesday and continue it in January And complete it in March. Bill Fairfield 78 Posted 02/12/2019 at 20:05:10 End this season now please Jimmy Hogan 79 Posted 02/12/2019 at 20:05:44 We are the hollow menWe are the stuffed menLeaning togetherHeadpiece filled with straw. Alas! Our dried voices, whenWe whisper togetherAre quiet and meaninglessAs wind in dry grassOr rats' feet over broken glassIn our dry cellar. Stephen Brown 80 Posted 02/12/2019 at 20:05:54 Another day, another smack in the teeth !! Rob Marsh 81 Posted 02/12/2019 at 20:07:08 There's only one way to look at this and that is all our bad luck has come at once in one season and if we can come 17th or above (by some miracle) it will be clear blue skies the seasons thereafter!!!That's about the only way I can cope with this. Of course I'm deluding myself! Pat Kelly 82 Posted 02/12/2019 at 20:08:07 Thanks Jimmy, proper cheered me up that. John P McFarlane 83 Posted 02/12/2019 at 20:08:24 James # Everton's last victory over our rivals was at Goodison in Oct 2010 when we won 2-0 the Gosling game was in 2009 when we went on to the final with Chelsea and our last victory over the park was in 1999 courtesy of Kevin Campbell. Slim pickings for us in the last decade or two, let's hope Derby wins are like busses and we get 3 come along at once :) Our fixture list isn't exactly empty either is it? Mark Guglielmo 84 Posted 02/12/2019 at 20:09:27 OK just counted them up. The match is 4 January, which is the RS's 11th match in 30 days (starting with the Derby this week). 11 January they have Spurs in the EPL, so I guess you could say 12 matches in 37 days. They'll be knackered! Chris Neubauer 85 Posted 02/12/2019 at 20:10:09 Chris @54 I don't think it matters what their fixture list consists of, the Everton we all know will arrive already defeated as they will on Wednesday, and as sure as night follows day, that will be what happens. Negative? Yes. But I'd rather take that stance and be proved wrong, than the opposite. Ed Prytherch 86 Posted 02/12/2019 at 20:10:20 I'm with Jim Bennings. The more often we play them the sooner we will beat them. Neil Lawson 87 Posted 02/12/2019 at 20:11:53 Look on the bright side. At least we wont be humiliated by a lower league side. Not knocked out by a shit side just by shit. George Stuart 88 Posted 02/12/2019 at 20:12:13 If we were to get the RS, you know it would be at Anfield. In a game where home advantage traditionally counts, it was inevitable.Get ready for the unreasonable red card and the unfathomable VAR decision to deny us an equaliser at 60 minutes before they go on to win 3 - 0. Oh and we will play well with passion and some skill. Chris Neubauer 89 Posted 02/12/2019 at 20:13:31 Neil @ 87, good point Dave Williams 90 Posted 02/12/2019 at 20:16:27 It's to be hoped that our players are not as defeatist as some on here. By the time we play them either we will have turned the corner or we will have a new manager. Possibly a goal scorer once the window opens.I see this as a great opportunity to rescue our season. Adrian Evans 91 Posted 02/12/2019 at 20:16:28 So we will be out of both Cup's by mid Jan.Given at this rate we will be 5 points adrift of third from bottom well have our work cut out to finish 17 th,don't need a distractionAt least we only got short walk to the car and drive home.God knows what Eddie is thinking. If its him we gotta make him feel wanted asap.Well hes gotta do the same for us and Win football matches virtually every week at Goodison in a way we will appreciate.Oh a decent number away to please.Or go get the Autistic one from Leeds who sits on a bucket in the corner of the technical area????Dont talk to the players on the pitch tells his labourers to do that. They reckon he's a Russian Spy. Julian Exshaw 92 Posted 02/12/2019 at 20:17:52 It makes our Carabo cup game even more vital now. We can get our revenge on those moaning cheating diving b'tards Leicester. Peter Thistle 93 Posted 02/12/2019 at 20:18:54 I wouldn't mind if Kanchelskis and Limpar were still playing for us, but nooooooooo, not the shite again :( Joe Corgan 94 Posted 02/12/2019 at 20:25:18 The bloody negativity on here! Why on earth should we ever run scared? Christ, it's running scared and playing scared that's landed us in this mess in the first place. You can't have those famous victories that live long in the memory unless you play the games. It's nothing ventured nothing gained on this one. One-off FA Cup game with a huge away ticket allocation. If some of you lot turn up, it'll be like a funeral.Given how our form turned after the Goodison derby in March, I'm quite looking forward to this one. Derek Taylor 95 Posted 02/12/2019 at 20:27:25 An early opportunity for Howe to make an impression ! David Thomas 96 Posted 02/12/2019 at 20:32:25 For fucks sake I know people just want to be positive for the sake of it but we are crap and they are probably the most in form team in Europe so how can it be something to look forward to. Neil Lawson 97 Posted 02/12/2019 at 20:33:42 Breaking news. VAR check suggests that Tony Adam's middle finger entered the box before Micah Richards got his out. Redraw gives us a home tie v Barnsley. Rob Marsh 98 Posted 02/12/2019 at 20:35:03 Derek # 93The first team will be so shell-shocked come the new year he'll probably roll out U23s. Richard Duff 99 Posted 02/12/2019 at 20:36:16 Joe 94. That is THE point. By league standards, we get a huge allocation for the cup game, is it 20% of the capacity? They won't like that. With all the CL games with teams like Ghent coming over with 17 fans, they really will feel surprised by the full force of a blue army looking for blood! Eric Paul 100 Posted 02/12/2019 at 20:37:50 David @96Because if life was easy it would be no fun Mark Guglielmo 101 Posted 02/12/2019 at 20:38:19 Rob M @98 that would be fun! That was basically the team that had the 5-5 (6-5) against Arsenal in the League Cup! Brent Stephens 102 Posted 02/12/2019 at 20:39:15 U23s two up against Watford. Evans got both and playing absolute blinder even without the goals. Richard Duff 103 Posted 02/12/2019 at 20:39:32 15% according to the FA, so about 8,000. That's going to require the BBC to turn down the mics. Ken Kneale 104 Posted 02/12/2019 at 20:39:43 Great door A guilt edge opportunity to prevent them doing the double and ensure 2020 is better than 2019. Come on Blues Tony Abrahams 105 Posted 02/12/2019 at 20:42:46 I'm sure they gave us less than that two years ago Richard? Colin Leckey 106 Posted 02/12/2019 at 20:43:34 Dear Gods, whatever it was we did to offend you, can we go and piss in a corner of the pitch or chant some words backwards or something to undo it... Adrian Evans 107 Posted 02/12/2019 at 20:44:44 Go get the psychopath from Leeds,or is he just Autistic, either way he scares the shit out the players hes got.Anyone who's done great with Chile, in that scary F ing place aint going to be bricking it going to the Shite,or anywhere in Manchester. He sits on his fucking bucket in the corner of the technical area.He don't bother talking to his team, hes tells his goeffers to tell them.Hes f ing working out how to beat the bastards there playing. You seen what a home game for Chile looks like against Columbia.Yep assualt rifles and 500 Marines around the pitch.Fuck go get him for Wed.Oh Leeds where playing some great stuff, just short of three decent players they couldnt afford last year.Shit we got the £100 millions worth on the subs bench and injured hed need to win the league.Got get him. Kieran Kinsella 108 Posted 02/12/2019 at 20:45:33 Thinking about calling it a day. I avoided the last four games hoping to hear I'd tempted fate and we'd turned it around. This just about finishes for me. Chris Hart 110 Posted 02/12/2019 at 20:47:27 They won't be relishing this tie either. They are carrying injuries now and are starting to look tired. Their gruelling December fixture list ahead could see them drop a few points. Klopp will have to play a strong team whilst Pep will play his reserves against Port Vale. Let's give them a tough draw followed by a bruising replay at Goodison with us winning in extra time. They then have Spurs and Utd. Wouldn't it be funny if Leicester pipped them to the title by 1 point! Come on the Blue Boys! Rob Halligan 111 Posted 02/12/2019 at 20:49:06 Tony, the other year we had all the anfield road end. I think we had just under nine thousand there. Tony Abrahams 112 Posted 02/12/2019 at 20:49:44 All 3rd round FA Cup games are going to be starting a minute late, to highlight mental health, and after reading this thread I can definitely understand why. Rob Marsh 113 Posted 02/12/2019 at 20:53:05 The season we're relegated, they get to win the Prem and CL and lord knows what else, they also get to stuff us three times as an extra treat. We're about to be flushed away down the karzi in May and become a FC Munich 1860, no one will know we even exist.I'm in one of my more optimistic moods tonight. Tony Abrahams 114 Posted 02/12/2019 at 20:53:17 I was talking to some family from America, who were over for a holiday and got tickets for the game Rob. They are Liverpudlian's, but said the highlight of the game was watching the Evertonians going absolutely mental when Sigurdson scored, and said it was such an incredible sight. Don Wright 115 Posted 02/12/2019 at 20:53:32 Well at least none of the red syhite won the ballon de whatever. Bobby Mallon 116 Posted 02/12/2019 at 20:53:52 We are going to twat those knobbers and on Wednesday as well Christy Ring 117 Posted 02/12/2019 at 20:54:07 Why all the negativity, we'll have a new manager in place, hope it's Arteta, definitely not Howe, and a team with proper formation and tactics. Is it possible to buy a striker on the 2nd January, and legible to play in the in the Cup? Adrian Evans 118 Posted 02/12/2019 at 20:55:08 Anybody on here got any better idea's than Bielsa??Ok, would the sacked Spurs lad come.Well, hes got enough money for ever, hes 47.He aint won a trophy in England has he.Hes got all the motivation he might need every day to go to work if he kooks across Stanley Park.Maybe he fancies a crack at having it over the Shite every season.Mr Moshiri can only ask.It would be Bielsa for me. Rob Halligan 119 Posted 02/12/2019 at 20:55:20 Don, no doubt the shite will demand an inquest into that. Rob Marsh 120 Posted 02/12/2019 at 20:55:37 Tony # 112Brilliant! Mark Guglielmo 121 Posted 02/12/2019 at 20:58:46 Adrian @118 so no more Big Sam now? Adrian Evans 122 Posted 02/12/2019 at 21:02:46 About big Sam.Told some bad lads would allow it.Sam don't deserve that after he kept us up. Steve Carter 123 Posted 02/12/2019 at 21:03:57 The misery just piles on doesn't it. Our only hope now would appear to be that Corbyn gets up on the 12th and with the inevitable flight of capital from the socialist paradise, the premier league folds, life returns to what it was like circa 1970, and the shite, Citteh etc get to be as equally miserable us. John Davies 124 Posted 02/12/2019 at 21:06:14 Tony #112. Ha! ha! ha! That's made me chuckle. Thanks. Rob Marsh 125 Posted 02/12/2019 at 21:07:54 Steve # 123I'd like that, it was a much simpler world back then. Adrian Evans 126 Posted 02/12/2019 at 21:12:30 I think we are all on the same side. Why don't all 36,000 of us show up one night a Goodison and all have our say on this mess,Mr Moshiri,Bill et al and thrash it out.Save hundreds of millions of Mr Moshiri's money.Improve all our mentall heath and Wellbeing.Neaely thirty years in the Armed Forces, trained Royal Marines ect but this it breaks my heart. The old man brought me to Goodison in 1963 9 years old.For Gods sake. Ant we sort out this mess. Mark Guglielmo 127 Posted 02/12/2019 at 21:13:16 "Our only hope now would appear to be that Corbyn gets up on the 12th and with the inevitable flight of capital from the socialist paradise, the premier league folds, life returns to what it was like circa 1970"Sounds pretty "Make [insert what you will] Great Again!"-esque to these ears. Jay Wood[BRZ] 128 Posted 02/12/2019 at 21:16:56 Dunno why some are calling out the supposed negativity about this draw. I think it's more gallow's humour than anything else.I always want (and believe!) Everton can win every game. But on hearing of the draw my first spontaneous reaction was to laugh out loud. Why? Because it's so indicative of how our entire season is going. 63 teams, and we draw them away, in the 3rd round, for the second time in three years. The footballing Gods are just playing with our heads now.As Tony Abrahams comically says @ 112 "All 3rd round FA Cup games are going to be starting a minute late, to highlight mental health, and after reading this thread I can definitely understand why."That's Everton, that is! Dave Williams 129 Posted 02/12/2019 at 21:20:15 Brent #102 I've always liked young Evans- could he still make it? Mike Price 130 Posted 02/12/2019 at 21:21:07 They lost the league at Goodison Park last year. It's a free hit really, it would be great to win but if we go out early it will help out in the relegation fight. Richard Duff 131 Posted 02/12/2019 at 21:22:48 BTW, Moise nominated for young player at the Balon. Not fit to put DCLs shin pads in at Goodison apparently. Brian Williams 132 Posted 02/12/2019 at 21:37:05 Where's Darren Hind and the other betting buffs?I want to know what odds I can get for beating the shite three times in one season. No txt-speak; all-lowercase posts are likely to be deleted Mike Keating 134 Posted 02/12/2019 at 21:38:24 And Clive Thomas is to referee the game! Brian Williams 135 Posted 02/12/2019 at 21:42:35 I didnt even press twice, honest. Joe Corgan 136 Posted 02/12/2019 at 21:44:59 Richard 99 - All I know is that Lincoln brought a massive following to Goodison last year and it really made a difference. If our fans can put on a good show at Anfield, it HAS to lift the players. Brent Stephens 137 Posted 02/12/2019 at 21:51:39 Dave #129 "I've always liked young Evans- could he still make it?"Dave, I think he's been as good as Anthony Gordon this season, and tonight absolutely outstanding, with those two goals being icing on the cake. I wouldn't like to predict for anybody if they could make the step-up to the first team, as so many things can go wrong for them (a couple of poor initial games and confidence shattered, as well as crowd indifference). But he might just get his chance before long, but at 21 years of age he needs his chance soon. Tony Twist 138 Posted 02/12/2019 at 21:55:12 Good. An extra opportunity to right the wrongs of this season. I think a lot of people need to take a happy pill because the negativity is out of control, a lot of people are behaving like the players and manager and lost before we even play. It wasn't a coincidence that the up turn in home performances last season happened with the more positive atmosphere at Goodison. Mike Doyle 139 Posted 02/12/2019 at 22:05:48 Don & Rob Halligan. Apparently VAR now looking at the Balon D'Or result. Expect Messi & Ronaldo to be disqualified. Van DIjk to win - with 2 other reds promoted to the top 3. Ian Riley 140 Posted 02/12/2019 at 22:11:58 All needed a bit of good news!! Mike Galley 141 Posted 02/12/2019 at 22:12:49 Am fucking annoyed as fuck about our reaction to this draw! Surrender after surrender seems to be our new motto!!I'm not having it, and if you accept a defeat before the game, go away ( believe me, I wanted to use stronger language) and support somebody else. These aren't that good, they're just a methodical machine ltheyre a reincarnation of the redshite teams of the 70s and 80s.How about we man up and go to that shitpit and take the game to them??? Brent Stephens 142 Posted 02/12/2019 at 22:17:20 Sorry, should have said earlier that Evans scored one and was instrumental in the build-up to the other goal. John Pierce 143 Posted 02/12/2019 at 22:17:33 Just imagine if we both win in the league cup and get each other in the semifinals plus and FA cup replay. 5 derbies in five weeks Arrrgghhhhh Tony McNulty 144 Posted 02/12/2019 at 22:30:20 Pat Kelly (82) Masterly. Congratulations. David Thomas 145 Posted 02/12/2019 at 22:35:39 Mike 141 you can be annoyed as you want I couldn't care less.I've been to every Anfield derby for the last 20 years and haven't seen one single win.By the next time we play them at home it will be a decade since we've beaten them at home.If people think the cowards we have at our club are going to take the game to Liverpool then feel free to think this but your going to be disappointed when it doesn't happen. We haven't got one single player in the club I would want with me in a fight they are all gutless losers. If another season is over by the first week in January and Moshiri isn't volleying people out the club then they may as well put the closed sign up at Goodison. Colin Glassar 146 Posted 02/12/2019 at 22:38:54 Can we forfeit this game? I know the purists will be horrified but do we really deserve more humiliation? Haven't we suffered enough? David Pearl 147 Posted 02/12/2019 at 22:41:01 We need to sign Dan Gosling on January 1st to stand any chance... and for itv to cover it. I always go into every single game thinking we can win this. Especially derbies. And then sit there gobsmacked watching Pickford fuck up with 2 seconds to go. Denis Richardson 148 Posted 02/12/2019 at 22:41:36 Man - we need to get this Jonah out of our club ASAP!Silva is truly cursed.Bye Bye FA Cup for another year (or a great way for a new manager to kick start his Everton career ) Rob Marsh 149 Posted 02/12/2019 at 22:43:55 David # 145It's a pity money or not that Moshiri can't volley himself out of the club after bringing Keoman and Silva into the club and I suspect Brands might make the trio before the seasons out. Mike Galley 150 Posted 02/12/2019 at 22:47:53 David #145. Please forgive me. I've calmed down (and maybe sobered up a little!). I was in the railway in Kirkby when the draw was made, and when their name came out, they all shouted give us Everton and then proceeded to hug and high five each other when it happened. The kowtowing reaction of the blues on there was what annoyed me. I agree with you, I believe we'll get beat. There's no way I'll accept it in front of them though. Is it too much to ask for a bit of defiance? Bob Parrington 151 Posted 02/12/2019 at 22:53:26 Life's a hoot ain't it? Half of us likely laughed out loud when we saw the draw and the other half went in to deeper depression. Then, the thought about the 1 minute delay through mental health awareness to boot!Who wrote the script to this soapy? As written in one earlier post in this thread, it must be dreadful being a young blue on Merseyside just now. I hope they're not reading this thread! There's just one thing you can do when you hit the bottom and that's go get positive. Make firm decisions and take positive steps.Time for the entire Everton board, management and playing staff to step up to the plate and develop a positive, winning environment.Let's start with the game with Liverpool this week. Stranger things have happened and a win by the only goal would do! That would put a different light on the 3rd round draw!"WE ARE EVERTON!!" is much better than 'we are everton??' John Boon 152 Posted 02/12/2019 at 22:58:39 Why all the doom and Gloom? The game takes place after the deadline and we will have signed at least six top players by then. We will also have a new manager who will have started to take English lessons. Big Dunc. All this will be sanctioned by VAR. To top all that our new ground may also be ready for that date. Ian Edwards 154 Posted 02/12/2019 at 22:58:55 Has anyone heard the rumour we are getting Marcelo Gallardo? Straight in as 3rd favourite 7/2 as next Everton Manager. Colin Glassar 155 Posted 02/12/2019 at 23:14:39 Does he come with an interpreter, Ian? Don Alexander 156 Posted 02/12/2019 at 23:20:53 To me it's another "warm ball" stitch-up.Wish we had half a dozen warm balls in the boardroom mind, instead of the impotence they repeatedly display. Peter Laing 157 Posted 02/12/2019 at 23:26:01 Tonight compounds the shell shock and paralysis that is currently gripping the Club and permeating right through from the boardroom to the dressing room and out onto the terraces. Surely there is a Manager out there with the cajones needed to take on the job, roll his sleeves up and say fuck this 'we are Everton' get a grip and let's start the road to recovery and start fighting back. The last two Managers that have done that that I can remember are Royle and Moyes. We need to find that man - but not Moyes he's yesterday's man just as is big Joe. Anthony Murphy 158 Posted 02/12/2019 at 23:39:50 Peter - absolutely We need that. A Howe type just isn't going to see this. Neil Wood 159 Posted 02/12/2019 at 23:44:15 David @ 145 can I have your ticket then ? John Pickles 160 Posted 02/12/2019 at 23:53:41 Looking on the bright side, at least we aren't going to be beaten at home now by AFC Fylde. Dick Fearon 161 Posted 02/12/2019 at 00:01:03 I bet those gobshites are shitting themselves! David Pearl 162 Posted 03/12/2019 at 00:04:20 Neil 159.Keep going matey you never know. I will ask around. II didn't bother before because lm leaving the country. A decision made before the cup draw. Derek Thomas 163 Posted 03/12/2019 at 00:06:52 When I looked at the news this morning, my heart sank...oh ffs, you couldn't make this up, somebody is taking the piss here. Snowflake alert - look away now. I was also reminded of the old Jewish joke - Lord, if we're truely the chosen people, how come the arabs got all the oil. Mark Guglielmo 164 Posted 03/12/2019 at 00:12:27 Denis @148 "Jonah?" I'm not even religious but I know that Jonah brings about bad luck and/or destruction. As in, it wasn't already there. So unless your memory only goes back as far as May 2018, may want to rethink things. Surprised you didn't just go all for for Judas while you were at it. John Kavanagh 165 Posted 02/12/2019 at 00:21:06 Ian @154. Gallardo is said to be on Barca's shortlist to replace Valverde. If we got him it would be a major coup. He has worked wonders at River Plate. One thing worries me though. Plate were leading going into injury time after dominating the recent Copa L final against Flamengo and missing numerous chances, only to let in two giveaway goals in as many minutes. Can anyone think of another team that does this regularly? His cup achievements are numerous but his league performance is relatively poor. He would be well ahead of any of the other rumoured candidates in my book and is the sort of manager I would have expected Brands to shortlist. I was surprised when the Flamengo manager Jesus was a rumoured target rather than Gallardo. Don't know whether he can speak English though and would he sit well with our Brazilian contingent? TW's specialist Latin American posters should be able to provide more detail please? Mark Guglielmo 166 Posted 03/12/2019 at 00:24:28 Me, Mark? I have no clue about anything Latin America. I can only assume you meant Jay Wood, Mr. Brazil. If another Mark, ok then, never mind. Dermot O'Brien 167 Posted 03/12/2019 at 00:32:29 Great to see so many Evertonians waving white flags. Just great. Shower of yellow bellies. Get a grip. There's no Anfield curse. There's no anti Everton conspiracy. Talk of forfeiting? Humiliation? Yes we've suffered and had plenty of kicks in the teeth. But fuck it. We get up and fight on. And on, until we win. And people who want to give up before a ball is even kicked can fuck right off when we do win. I don't care who we play. I care that we win.UTFT. Jim Wilson 168 Posted 03/12/2019 at 00:56:00 Its all now just Bizarre. We've only just played them in the cup John Pierce 169 Posted 03/12/2019 at 01:22:22 Dead man crawling Steve Brown 170 Posted 03/12/2019 at 01:23:52 You actually have to laugh at this draw - Silva just has zero luck, but then you make your own don't you?If we could only win one of the two Anfield Derbys, what one would you choose? League or Cup? Ian Linn 171 Posted 03/12/2019 at 01:28:36 One word sums it up - bag of shite Derek Knox 172 Posted 03/12/2019 at 01:37:03 John Raftery @ 42, many a true word spoken in jest, but what have we got to lose? Thanks to Silva and a misfiring squad, we MAY just be capable of pulling off an upset!Highly unlikely I know, but now that the contents of Pandora's Box have been exposed/discovered it is all we have left! Mark Guglielmo 173 Posted 03/12/2019 at 02:15:55 Prediction:0-1 win for the Blues, Moise Kean gamewinner at 88'Supporters erect a statue of Marco Silva outside Goodison but VAR overturns it and they're forced to take it down. Mick Davies 174 Posted 03/12/2019 at 03:59:54 So many on here telling us to be positive? If you'd been to a derby or away match over the years, you'd know that it's only the fans who are positive; they are let down, despite giving immense support, every time. You can't expect the best Reds side in a generation, not to beat the worst Everton side in a generation, or you'd have to seriously question your sanity. No, the only thing to do is hit them right from the off, damage their star players, scare them to death, as we certainly can't match them for skill, pace or stamina; this could be a huge dent in the title chances and we may get players sent off, but we keep going until we are down to seven, the match is abandoned and we keep our dignity - and they lose Firminho, Van Dickhead and Robertson. . . . . oh how I wish I could manage Everton, just for one game Alan J Thompson 175 Posted 03/12/2019 at 05:09:30 Does Mr Moshiri still expect us to lose these games anyway which might explain Mr Silva's reprieve for however long and if so, does that make him lucky or unlucky? Mark Guglielmo 176 Posted 03/12/2019 at 05:31:27 You sound very rational and balanced, Mick. Also, maybe double-check the differences between "expectations" and "remaining positive." They're not the same thing nor are they mutually exclusive. Bob Parrington 177 Posted 03/12/2019 at 06:37:05 I go with you Mark 0-1 result but maybe the Keane goal in the 96th minute with the 6 minute additional time! The RS lose the next 10 games as they're all feeling so down! Joe O'Brien 178 Posted 03/12/2019 at 07:23:15 We all seem to be getting very good at feeling sorry about ourselves. The draw has been made.. we have been dealt this hand so we just have to get on with it. We really need to change this defeatist attitude and approach. We haven't had good results at their place recently in the past.. but the key part of that sentence is.. it's in the past. If our team went into the future derbies with this defeatist attitude we'd never win there again. Rick Tarleton 179 Posted 03/12/2019 at 07:35:51 My first Derby game was when Everton played Liverpool in a cup tie in 1955. We were doing quite well in the old First Division, they were way down the old Second Division. We lost 4-0. So surprise cup results are possible, especially as they'll have been playing in the so-called world club championship. However, I think realistically this draw will allow us to concentrate on the relegation battle we're already in. Tony Abrahams 180 Posted 03/12/2019 at 07:51:03 Mike@150, I'd have been on the tables dancing, screaming, laughing, shouting it's "our fuckin cup" and then worrying about Christmas because I'd made so many bets with the bastards! Ray Roche 181 Posted 03/12/2019 at 08:06:34 Tony, did alcohol play any part in this episode? David Thomas 182 Posted 03/12/2019 at 08:36:07 159 Neil,Already promised my ticket to a mate otherwise you could definitely have had it. Rudi Coote 183 Posted 03/12/2019 at 08:52:43 Rick @179,I remember that game. I was 9 years old. My dad reckoned the Irish players Farrel and the rest threw that game. They were laughing as they left the pitch. A shock result. Nigel Peters 184 Posted 03/12/2019 at 09:00:09 Most of the posts reflect what would be a rational assessment of the outcome of the tie ie a “shalackalingâ€, just as well that football and particularly the Cup is an irrational game, anything can happen and probably will. No point worrying about it Mike Oates 185 Posted 03/12/2019 at 09:05:23 Jinxed totally jinxed club. The curse can only be lifted when Accrington Stanley reach the Premeirshio, but by then we will be in Div 2 Bobby Mallon 186 Posted 03/12/2019 at 09:08:24 I want Jorge Jesus as manager not Gallardo John Hammond 187 Posted 03/12/2019 at 09:22:41 Had a chuckle when I saw the draw. If you want to win the cup you have to beat the best. John Kavanagh 188 Posted 03/12/2019 at 09:48:12 Dermot @167 Whilst being up for the fight is very commendable and I'll be as desperate as anyone for us to get results in both upcoming matches, experience of the last 10 years is the sole cause of any negativity on TW. Of course we will all be up for the fight on the day, but bitter experience tells me we will end up a bit like the Black Knight in Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Beaten but desperate for another chance to turn things round.Of the two, getting a result tomorrow is far more important because we desperately need some points and something - anything - to help restore confidence. Jack Convery 189 Posted 03/12/2019 at 10:42:15 Remember that black cat versus Wolves - I bet he was a RS. If I was Silva I'd visit a gypsy and get the curse lifted asap. The only consolation is that Klopp would not want this tie either. After the World Club Comp the last thing he would want to do is put out a full strength team. The only way he will if is they get Ko'd from the Chumps League which is perfectly possible. The RB Salzburg result will dictate what team he puts out. If they progress in the C/League and the RS put out their reserves and win against us then Shanklys words will finally have credence - there are only two teams on Merseyside etc etc. Raymond Fox 190 Posted 03/12/2019 at 10:50:02 I don't really believe in hocus pocus but this curse we seem to have needs to be lifted, because luck like it or not plays a large part in every event. Get that guy called Jesus. The odds on us drawing the reds at their ground is 122/1, 61/1 we draw them and then double it because its at their ground. Jamie Crowley 191 Posted 03/12/2019 at 16:50:30 I've been busy. Just logged on. You've got to be kidding me?!Nothing seemingly getting better, it only gets worse. Ray Roche 192 Posted 03/12/2019 at 16:57:52 Jack@189“Only two teams “etc. predates Shankly by a decade at least. My arl fella used that in the fifties long before Shankly arrived. It's yet another ‘effin myth that surrounds that shithouse club. Dave Abrahams 193 Posted 03/12/2019 at 17:06:32 Ray (192) that saying was used by both sets of supporters when I was growing up in the forties, Fish and Chips latched on to many Liverpool people's football sayings. Soren Moyer 194 Posted 03/12/2019 at 17:28:48 Can't be any worse than the Millwall horror show the other season! Jack Convery 195 Posted 04/12/2019 at 03:15:45 Ray thanks for the info. Tom Bowers 196 Posted 15/12/2019 at 11:00:07 They won't be interested in this cup and will probably put out their second string which would make it a more interesting game. However it would still be a tough one to win unless we bring back Dan Gosling.
