Season › 2019-20 › News Premier League restart preview: Everton Thursday, 11 June, 2020 6comments | Jump to most recent Carlo Ancelotti's side entered the break in poor form and maybe he will now give young players, such as Anthony Gordon and Lewis Gibson, a chance. What needs to be done to have a successful end to the season? A first Merseyside derby win for almost 10 years would be a good start. There remains an outside chance of Europe, with six points separating Wolves in sixth from Everton in 12th, although it would require major and consistent improvement for Ancelotti's team to climb that high. » Read the full article at The Guardian Reader Comments (6) Note: the following content is not moderated or vetted by the site owners at the time of submission. Disclaimer Ajay Gopal 1 Posted 14/06/2020 at 14:27:04 I agree with the gist of the article summed up in their prediction - Everton may just realistically scrape into the Top 10, if they do reasonably well. More than skills, it would be about being motivated in the absence of any crowd support. Jay Harris 2 Posted 14/06/2020 at 15:16:29 I think we will end up with between 49 and 56 points although my pre lockdown "biased and optimistic" forecast had us with 61.I doubt we will get Europe but more realistically this run-in will give Carlo the opportunity to confirm his ideas going forward with new acquisitions identified and the hangers-on moved on. Come on, Mr Brands – you know you can do it. Jay Harris 3 Posted 14/06/2020 at 15:18:48 Btw has anyone seen the training video. I thought Calvert-Lewin looked on fire, Anthony Gordon looked good. Brian Williams 5 Posted 14/06/2020 at 15:47:54 Jay#2.My pre-lockdown realistic (in my head anyway) had us 10th on 48 points. We'll never know how things might have turned out as everything's changed forever! Dick Fearon 6 Posted 15/06/2020 at 23:36:40 I am yet to be convinced that Carlo is the man for the job. To say the situation allows time for him to identify the club's problems and how to solve them supports my case.So far his motivational and tactical competence is hardly better than our other failed managers. I do not include Big Dunc in that list of disappointments. He did infuse the squad with some fighting spirit. In the recent Chelsea game, I did not see a glimmer of better things to come. Despite his own huge list of injuries, it was painfully clear that Lampard was head and shoulders the superior manager. Carlo's team selection, game plan plus choice and timing of subs were average at best. Derek Thomas 7 Posted 16/06/2020 at 01:20:11 Dick @ 6; I may be having a negative nellie day, but all I see is EFC, stumbling on numerous fronts, from one fuck up to another.
