Premier League restart preview: Everton

I agree with the gist of the article summed up in their prediction - Everton may just realistically scrape into the Top 10, if they do reasonably well. More than skills, it would be about being motivated in the absence of any crowd support.

I think we will end up with between 49 and 56 points although my pre lockdown "biased and optimistic" forecast had us with 61.

I doubt we will get Europe but more realistically this run-in will give Carlo the opportunity to confirm his ideas going forward with new acquisitions identified and the hangers-on moved on. Come on, Mr Brands – you know you can do it.

Btw has anyone seen the training video. I thought Calvert-Lewin looked on fire, Anthony Gordon looked good.

I am yet to be convinced that Carlo is the man for the job. To say the situation allows time for him to identify the club's problems and how to solve them supports my case.

So far his motivational and tactical competence is hardly better than our other failed managers. I do not include Big Dunc in that list of disappointments. He did infuse the squad with some fighting spirit.

In the recent Chelsea game, I did not see a glimmer of better things to come. Despite his own huge list of injuries, it was painfully clear that Lampard was head and shoulders the superior manager. Carlo's team selection, game plan plus choice and timing of subs were average at best.
