Disclaimer Harry Williams 1 Posted 25/08/2020 at 20:30:56 Unsworth's young fledglings, Connolly (23), Pennington (nearly 26), Adeniran (21), Bowler (21), Broadhead (22), Baningime (nearly 22)... and I am sure there's more but not sure how many played vs Runcorn. Surely younger players need to be playing...? Phill Thompson 2 Posted 25/08/2020 at 22:21:47 Harry, that's pretty standard in the U23s at this time of year as we put the older ones in the shop window for a loan or moving on. The six you highlight are the oldest in the squad, let's see who's playing when it settles down come October, if not before. Starting tonight we had one 17-year-old Dobbin, two 18-year-olds Astley and Hughes, 19-year-old Einar Iversen, plus on the bench two 17-year-olds, Leban a goalkeeper and Liam Higgins, midfield. That's the most young players we've had in a squad at this stage of the season since we changed up to U23s. And it'll get younger. Phill Thompson 3 Posted 26/08/2020 at 09:31:00 18-year-old Hansen was the goalkeeper too. It's hard to tell how they played given there was a storm blowing but the reports talk of a good dinked goal from Broadhead and a driving run from midfield by Iversen, a rarity at 1st team level these days. Kevin Prytherch 4 Posted 26/08/2020 at 14:05:16 Harry – Don't forget that Simms, Gordon and Kyle John have been with the first team. Also, Pennington, Broadhead, Bowler and Connolly have all returned from long term loans and are probably getting match-fit for another loan. He is playing what he currently has available to him. However, a team with the experience we have out there should be able to beat Chorley. Baningime and Adeniran should be controlling these games if they have any chance of the first team while Broadhead, Pennington and Connolly have all proven themselves at Championship level – so should be putting up better results than this. Kevin Prytherch 5 Posted 26/08/2020 at 14:06:30 That should have said "beat Chorley comfortably"... Phil (Kelsall) Roberts 6 Posted 28/08/2020 at 10:21:57 Kevin#5Is that "should of said "beat Chorley comfortably" " because they actually did or the team that was put out should have done so? Kevin Prytherch 7 Posted 28/08/2020 at 21:29:03 The team they put out should have beat Chorley far more comfortably than what they did.I even confused myself when I read it back!!!
