Disclaimer Tony Waring 1 Posted 11/10/2020 at 09:31:14 Whatever happened to number 3 ? Paul Jones 2 Posted 11/10/2020 at 09:44:31 3 is the magic number. It just... disappeared. Paul Jones 3 Posted 11/10/2020 at 09:46:31 ...or - it's hiding on Olsen's shirt maybe? Robert Tressell 4 Posted 11/10/2020 at 10:08:22 The club has retired the Number 3 shirt in honour of Alessandro Pistone, who occasionally wore the shirt with distinction when his legs worked. Mike Allison 5 Posted 11/10/2020 at 10:26:36 At last! Sub goalkeepers coming in on loan are now, finally, getting the kind of squad numbers that a club like Everton should be giving them. This was the kind of thing that we could have taken for granted until the disastrous era of the charlatan Kenwright led to our sub goalkeepers having numbers like 49 and 22. At last he's no longer running the club into the ground and this shows that the club might finally be getting over the immense damage he's done. Dave Abrahams 6 Posted 11/10/2020 at 10:53:34 Robert (4), Ah Pistone, when he was at Newcastle the players got him a sheep's heart as a Christmas present. When he was at Everton an apprentice watched him, mesmerised, combing his hair in the mirror, after five or ten minutes, the kid went and got a few more apprentices to watch Pistone having his love affair with himself and the mirror, he was still at it when they came back.Definitely up there with all the other “Beauts†we've had to stomach over the years!! Dennis Stevens 7 Posted 11/10/2020 at 12:52:43 No 3 or 11. Although it's just a number, it always seems odd to me when we don't actually have an apparent first eleven in the squad, at least as regards shirt numbers. I always thought it'd be more sensible to have letters anyway, tbh. Phill Thompson 8 Posted 11/10/2020 at 12:55:08 I think I read somewhere they need to finalise the “25-man squad†by 20 October, which if I remember right, has to have 8 homegrown players. Keane and Godfrey count, but U21s are not included. Somebody must be doing the maths and telling players now they're not going to make it and Brands is presumably working hard to shift them. Carlo has also said he likes to work with a smaller squad. Minik Hansen 9 Posted 11/10/2020 at 23:00:46 3, 11, they failed to acquire players or incoming player(s) from the Championship? Or is it closed? Justin Doone 10 Posted 12/10/2020 at 09:38:22 I presume the players' numbers will not change but simply no longer be used should anyone move on? Unless our new first team ready incoming transfer player has always wanted number 49. Maybe an American football fan? The main concern around football numbers is points won in the season. Dave Abrahams 11 Posted 12/10/2020 at 09:45:24 Justin (10), I don't think any will be fighting over, or want, the 69 shirt. Geoff Lambert 12 Posted 12/10/2020 at 09:50:08 Are we still top of the league? Phill Thompson 13 Posted 12/10/2020 at 11:40:53 Geoff, I think we are now 9th, there's this thing called “Project Big Picture†which only allows certain clubs to feature in the top Six or else they won't publish the league table. Per Stumo 14 Posted 12/10/2020 at 18:02:34 Did #3 get retired when Bainesy retired? Steve Shave 15 Posted 13/10/2020 at 08:18:15 Let's buy Donnaruma in January and he can have his beloved No 99. Derek Knox 16 Posted 13/10/2020 at 11:48:44 Tony @1, as in 'The Prisoner' we never discovered who Number 3 really was! :-)Still illustrates how many we have on board, but as has been mentioned, the EFL last minute scramble may see those numbers reduced, but how significantly one can only hope and speculate.Still hanker faint hopes of landing Josh King at the right price, I wonder what number he would be allocated? Derek Thomas 17 Posted 13/10/2020 at 12:09:46 Derek@ 16; If we do sign King he can have 69 for all I care, or if he like a Greggs pie he can Ï€. I wanted him when Lukaku left. Martin Reppion 18 Posted 14/10/2020 at 16:27:48 Dave #11.. Come again? Mike Gaynes 19 Posted 14/10/2020 at 16:51:49 We're saving #11 for Mirallas' return.
