Season › 2020-21 › News Pickford starts for England against Iceland Wednesday, 18 November, 2020 11comments | Jump to most recent England 4 - 0 Iceland Jordan Pickford started in goal for England in their dead rubber game against Iceland in the Nations League at Wembley but Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Michael Keane were unused substitutes. Gylfi Sigurdsson played no part in this one, with reports that he had returned to Everton already and both Calvert-Lewin and Keane were left on the bench, which will likely please Carlo Ancelotti. Declan Rice scored the opening goal for England with a nice glancing header off a free-kick after 20 minutes. Mount added a second minutes later while Phil Foden scored a late brace to complete the scoring in a comprehensive 4-0 win for Gareth Southgate's men. Disclaimer Rob Halligan 1 Posted 18/11/2020 at 18:53:11 Well, Sigurdsson is definitely not starting for Iceland tonight, as he has returned back to Everton. Don't know the reason for this, as I've not heard if he's injured? Pickford starts again for England. Rob Halligan 2 Posted 18/11/2020 at 19:42:11 According to the BBC website Brian, he's returned back to Everton. I think there are two Sigurdsson's in their squad. Sukhdev Sohal 3 Posted 18/11/2020 at 19:42:36 Brian there are many Sigurdsson's in Iceland's team. I can guarantee you Gylfi has returned to Everton. John Pierce 4 Posted 18/11/2020 at 19:49:14 Can we have the other Sigurdsson? Brian Williams 5 Posted 18/11/2020 at 19:58:13 Cheers Rob. 👠There appears to be one or two more Somethingsons in the squad too. Derek Knox 6 Posted 18/11/2020 at 20:28:27 Brian @ 4, Niceoneson! :-) Brian Williams 7 Posted 18/11/2020 at 20:32:45 And then there's Likefatherlike. Robert Tressell 8 Posted 18/11/2020 at 20:37:36 My favourite - Onmeheadson. Derek Moore 9 Posted 19/11/2020 at 06:28:21 I'm glad Dom didn't pick up a knock and will return to us in the same condition he left. Southgate can fuck off though. Jack Convery 11 Posted 19/11/2020 at 22:26:07 I noticed a BBC Sport article stating Pickford was an issue for Southgate. The said article then went on to say Pickford had his issues this season and mentioned yet again the season ending tackle on VVD ! It then went onto to state that Pickford has not actually made a mistake contributing to a goal against England whilst Southgate has picked him !! Unbelievable then that Southgate should have an issue with one would think. Total garbage journalism pandering to the RS agenda yet again. Roll on Fulham. COYBs. Gavin Johnson 15 Posted 21/11/2020 at 17:24:32 Testimony to how far Sigurdsson's fallen when he can't get a game for his national team.
