Season › 2020-21 › News Onyango to undergo surgery on broken ankle Sunday, 4 April, 2021 7comments | Jump to most recent Tyler Onyango will have an operation next week to repair what Everton describe as "a significant ankle fracture and ligament injury" suffered in yesterday's FA Youth Cup tie against Manchester City. The promising young midfielder was hacked down by an ugly challenge from City Under-18s' Alex Robertson and had to be stretchered off the field. Onyango, who made his first-team debut in the Toffees' FA Cup victory over Sheffield Wednesday earlier this season, will travel to London to undergo the procedure before beginning his patient rehabilitation but he will take heart from the recovery staged by André Gomes who suffered a similar injury 18 months ago. Thomas Richards 4 Posted 04/04/2021 at 18:39:00 Sickener for a young man starting his career. Wish him all the best. Ajay Gopal 5 Posted 05/04/2021 at 05:56:42 Bad luck to the young fella. He is young, so hopefully, he will be back in action within 6 months. Kim Vivian 6 Posted 05/04/2021 at 08:28:04 How old was Ross Barkley when he got crocked at a young age? I can't remember the injury, but the consensus was that held him back significantly at the time I think. This sounds quite serious so pray for his powers of recovery and mental fortitude in helping him get back. He will get plenty of encouragement from his senior colleagues similarly afflicted in the past.Good luck with the progress, Tyler. Paul Birmingham 7 Posted 05/04/2021 at 09:07:31 Let's hope Tyler makes a full recovery from this injury, he's been consistently good this season.
