After Roman Quintyne had unfortunately turned the ball into his own net to give the home side the lead in the first half, Tom Cannon and Rafael Garcia took command of proceedings with goals either side of half-time. Three young players new to this level — Saja Manafa, Emilio Lawrence and Coby Ebere — came on as second-half subs for Everton, with Lawrence at 15 years old, getting his name on the scoresheet with Everton's final goal. Everton U18s: Leban, Quintyne, Lowey, Kristensen, Campbell, Metcalfe, McAllister, Jagne, Cannon (70' Lawrence), Garcia (70' Ebere), Barker (84' Manafa). Subs not Used: Stewart. Tierney. Disclaimer Robert Tressell 1 Posted 04/05/2021 at 08:14:18 Nice piece this morning about our most talented youngsters being fast tracked into the U18s. Emilio Lawrence got his first goal age 15. Can't now find the article - but impression given is of a talented group working in a better structure. Brent Stephens 2 Posted 04/05/2021 at 09:11:37 Robert, is this the Lawrence article??Link Phill Thompson 3 Posted 04/05/2021 at 11:40:37 I said a wee bit about Emilio Lawrence recently so excuse me if I repeat myself, he is reckoned to be one of the most promising 15-year-olds in the country. He's played regularly for England youth, currently u16s, and scored a couple of goals last month for England while playing in the No 9 shirt. I believe this was his second U18 appearance, first goal. At 15 he'll still be a Schoolboy next season. The club tend not to talk too much about the younger Schoolboys, so I'm not sure who the 2nd 15-year-old who came on is. I'm sure we'll track it down.Edit: the 2nd 15-year-old forward who came on is I believe Corby Ebere. Another new name coming on was 16-year-old Saf Manafa Michael Kenrick Editorial Team 6 Posted 04/05/2021 at 14:57:44 Sorry, guys, I moved your earlier posts over here. The wonderful EC website, as informative as ever. No report, no teamsheet, and if you check two of the three subs, they're listed as 'Trialist' – with no names provided. I've been too busy thus far this season to do my age check of the academy squads, but I might add that in here soon when I update the season record. Could be some interesting comparisons...
