Season › 2020-21 › News Everton to play Man Utd in pre-season friendly Tuesday, 22 June, 2021 9comments | Jump to most recent Everton will complete their preparations for the 2021-22 Premier League season with a pre-season friendly against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday 7 August, kick-off at 5pm BST. Under existing Covid-19 guidelines, tickets for the game will be available to only a limited number of home fans initially. However, if, as part of the Government's roadmap out of lockdown, restrictions are eased as scheduled on 19 July, then a restricted number of away fans will also be able to attend this fixture, just one week before the new Premier League season kicks off in earnest. The clash against Manchester United will follow Everton's participation in the Florida Cup, a four-team tournament in Orlando, Florida, also featuring Arsenal, Inter Milan and Millonarios. The Blues play Colombian side Millonarios on Sunday 25 July at Camping World Stadium before facing either Arsenal or Inter three days later. All pre-season matches are expected to be made available via streaming on the club website to Everton Members. Disclaimer Michael Kenrick 1 Posted 22/06/2021 at 10:22:12 Noticeably higher calibre of opposition than Bury and Bolton this year! Or the rubbish Scottish teams the Ginger Minge had us visiting. Barry Hesketh 2 Posted 22/06/2021 at 10:22:40 It must be a long time since Everton had such a high-profile pre-season friendly in England, the new manager whoever it is will have quite a tough pre-season schedule. Rob Young 3 Posted 22/06/2021 at 10:31:33 We played them a few years ago in Rooney's Testimonial as well. Barry Hesketh 4 Posted 22/06/2021 at 10:36:15 Rob @3Yes of course we did, I'd forgotten all about that, I don't remember anything about it, not even the score. Alan J Thompson 5 Posted 22/06/2021 at 10:53:05 When did we stop playing European sides in preseason friendlies at Goodison which, if there are to be any signings, would let them know their home ground. Barry Hesketh 6 Posted 22/06/2021 at 11:03:16 Alan @5Everton 2-3 Valencia4 August 2018 – Goodison ParkEverton: Maarten Stekelenburg, Leighton Baines, Michael Keane, Phil Jagielka, Seamus Coleman, Morgan Schneiderlin, Idrissa Gueye, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Richarlison, Theo Walcott, Cenk TosunSubs: Lucas Digne, Tom Davies, Kieran Dowell, Ademola Lookman, Sandro Ramirez and Dominic Calvert-Lewin for Baines, Gueye, Sigurdsson, Richarlison, Walcott and TosunI think Covid has made arranging individual friendlies very difficult, particularly, in respect of attracting decent overseas clubs. Alan J Thompson 7 Posted 22/06/2021 at 11:17:14 Strewth, Barry, if you had asked me how many of these Jagielka had played with I might well have omitted Keane, Digne, Richarlison, Tosun and Walcott and quite possibly a couple more. Kieran Kinsella 8 Posted 22/06/2021 at 16:50:09 BarryI understand covid is a factor but it's no excuse. There are plenty of pub teams on Merseyside to replace the Austrian pub team we played before. David Pearl 9 Posted 25/06/2021 at 18:22:32 Barry is obviously correct.Another factor in the trip to play in the Florida Cup is James and the Columbian connection. We need to keep him and attract more top players now for this season. After we get a manager l'm guessing. Not that he would be too happy with Beneathus. Considering the injured and those on international duties probably won't be making the trip over to Florida the full squad might only be availabke for the Utd game.
