Season › 2021-22 › General Forum Ted Draper By Paul Draper 14/02/2022 Share: Dear ToffeeWeb members, My dad, Ted Draper, a regular on the site sadly passed away on Saturday night after an 18-month battle with cancer. He was 85 and had a rich and fulfilling life. He passed peacefully with his family around him and knew we went through in the Cup before he peacefully slipped away. He loved being part of this group which gave him great comfort during his remaining time. I want to thank you all for being my Dad's friend as the ToffeeWeb members were a great support to him during his illness. My family and I want to thank all members of the group for the support you showed him and I'm eternally grateful to you all. Now let's win the Cup! NSNO. Derek Knox 2 Posted 15/02/2022 at 15:32:44 The older Members will probably remember Teddy Draper and those involved in last year's ToffeeWeb Golf Day certainly will. Teddy even turned up on the Golf Day that was in his Honour and hit the first ball to start it all off. This was while he was undergoing Chemo for cancer in one lung. Ironically, although he had good days and bad days too, he was responding positively, and seemed to be on the mend. Unfortunately he developed an infection in the opposite lung, which, despite several hospitalisations and anti-biotic treatment, he succumbed to on 5 February at The Countess of Chester Hospital.Teddy was born on 26 April 1937 and after the Second World War, was a regular visitor to Goodison Park to watch his beloved Everton. He also became a very reasonable golfer and had a handicap of 10 even in his late seventies.Anyone from the Golf Day, or anyone that knew Teddy, is invited to attend the Funeral and Cremation at Memorial Park, Flintshire at 11:00 am on 2 March 2022. It is off the A55 (Junction 33A) between Northop and Connah's Quay. Then afterwards at Boughton Hall Cricket Club (Chester CH3 5EL) to raise a glass in his memory. John McFarlane Snr 3 Posted 15/02/2022 at 15:38:30 Hi Paul, please accept condolences on the passing of your Dad, he was of my generation [84 in July]. No doubt he recounted tales of Peter Farrell, Wally [Nobby] Fielding, Ted Sagar, Tommy Eglington, etc. Times when the game belonged to the working man, and not the money driven industry it's become. Once again condolences on your loss. Brent Stephens 5 Posted 15/02/2022 at 16:25:35 Paul, can I offer my condolences as well. Sounds like your Dad had a rich life. As you say, let's win the Cup for him. All the best, Paul. Ray Roche 6 Posted 15/02/2022 at 16:27:31 Condolences Paul, on your loss. I met Ted, albeit briefly, on the ToffeeWeb Golf Day, and the Everton World will be a lesser place for his passing. As you say, he saw us through the Cup game.🙠Mike Gaynes 7 Posted 15/02/2022 at 16:40:53 Paul, please allow me to add my condolences to the others here. Peace to you and your family. His presence here is sadly missed. And Derek, a hearty-well done to you and the other Golf Day organizers who gave Ted such a wonderful day to remember. Paul Ferry 8 Posted 16/02/2022 at 07:48:41 My deepest sympathies. I love the picture of your dad from the Golf Day. It just breathes "what a character". Another one of the older crew gone. So sad. But the wheel turns and one day on here the over-75s will be reminiscing about Tricky Trevor, Lord Sheedy, and the greatest winger I've ever seen at the Old Lady, Dave Thomas.Hope our paths cross at Wembley in May Paul,All the best to you and your family, Dave Abrahams 9 Posted 16/02/2022 at 10:10:44 Going by Ted's post's on here and his involvement with the Golf Day Out, he seemed to be an easy fella to like and get along with. I never had the pleasure to meet Ted, that's my loss, but he was without doubt a passionate Bluenose and one of us.Sincere condolences, Paul, to you and all the family on your very sad loss. Dave Williams 10 Posted 16/02/2022 at 10:37:37 Sincere condolences Paul. I didn't know your dad but he sounds like a great bloke.RIP. Stephen Vincent 11 Posted 16/02/2022 at 11:30:51 Really sad to hear of Teddy's passing. I met him for the first time at the golf day and I have to say that he was the most instantly likeable bloke I have ever met. It was great to be able enjoy a coffee with him and Paul while the others were toiling around the course. We kept in touch after that meeting and his emails were always witty and forthright.I will definitely be attending his memorial.Paul, please pass my condolences to the rest of the family. Dennis Stevens 12 Posted 16/02/2022 at 14:48:10 It's very sad to hear of the loss of your father, Paul.
