Who’s back at Finch Farm

With just 10 days to our first pre-season game in the USA against Millinaros, I have been trying to work out who is back at Finch Farm. This who I think I have seen on the YouTube Everton channel:

Keane
Holgate
Davies
Iwobi
Gbamin
Delph
Gordon
Gomes
Sigurdsson
Kean — looking interested!
Coleman
Baningime
Rodriguez — looking fit!
Godfrey
Kenny
Nkounkou?
Virginia

I reckon that makes 17…. Still to return:

Pickford
Calvert-Lewin
Digne — injured
Mina
Richarlison
Bernard?

Rafa Benitez looks good in rain jacket and shorts! At least 3 coaches including Duncan Ferguson.
It’s always hard to read anything into these 7-minute clips but the practice was fast and purposeful. Couldn’t always say that last season!

Also missing Branthwaite (injured?), Allan and Doucouré.

Is Olsen the goalkeeper coming back or has he departed for good?

If he's gone, then I imagine we will sign another ‘keeper, although I still think Virginia is a good goalkeeper with potential to come through.

I'm hoping Iwobi comes back strong this season and that Rafa plays him in his proper position and not as a right-wingback or on the left like our supposed world class manager did last season. No wonder the lad didn't play well.

He cost us a lot of money so we should use him. He is not shite; you don't play for Arsenal in the Champions League, or get umpteen caps for Nigeria, if you are shite. Let's hope Rafa can get him playing better cos I felt for him last season.

Few there need to go: Delph Gomes Sigurdsson and the rest who didn't give a shit last season.

Dave,

Some talk of Begovic joining on a 2-year contract.

I would like to retain Olsen, Dave. I also thought Virginia done very well in the few games he played for us.

Is Dumfries here yet?

I also saw Jonjoe Kenny and Lewis Gibson quite actively involved. I think I also saw Branthwaite.

No Tosun.

And where are Mo Besic and Sandro Ramirez when you most need them? ;-)

For some reason my immediate thought after reading the title was : thank goodness it's not Moyes. I subsequently realised that I'd have viewed the reappointment of Moyes even more negatively than the appointment of Benitez, which surprised me slightly.

Robin Olsen returned to the mothership, aka AS Roma, as he was only on loan. There was talk of him being loaned again, but it seems unlikely if Begovic is coming instead.

Shame that Michael. I thought that firstly he was great when called upon. And secondly, contributed to Pickford's improvement.

Pickford may feel it's a bit of an insult, bringing in Maier as back up - a great 'keeper in his day but must be ancient now.

I am sure I read somewhere West Ham are after Olsen on loan.

Chris (5),

On another Everton website, they are saying he is in talks now and looks ready to sign.

How come Bernard and Yerry are on the "get rid" list but Iwobi isn't!!!? Anyone with a slight knowledge of the game can tell he is a Championship player at best. So we want to keep him?

Totally agree Soren. At least Bernard and Mina have a modicum of fight, desire and ability. Iwobi has none of the above traits. He’s weak and he’s useless as well.

Dave,

I didn't know there was another Everton website!

Alan Myers has reported it's happening.

Chris, there’s a few, but none as good as TW and not going advertise them here.

Sorry, apart from one decent game, what has Bernard contributed? Absolutely nothing. Not built for the Premier League.
