Season › 2021-22 › News Pickford's entourage reportedly involved in pub fight Tuesday, 15 February, 2022 16comments | Jump to most recent Jordan Pickford has been implicated in a brawl that broke out in a pub on Sunday night but it doesn't appear as though the Everton goalkeeper was directly involved. According to The Sun newspaper, police are investigating an incident that occurred in East Boldon, with witnesses claiming that a fight broke out after a group of males taunted Pickford leading to a fracas that left one man with a broken nose. “'We received a report of a disturbance at the Beggar's Bridge pub,” a police spokesman said. “It was reported that a fight broke out between two groups of males inside the premises. An investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.” Article continues below video content Naturally, Everton declined to comment when contacted by the newspaper. An eye-witness account claimed: “He was getting goaded, like they do. All I heard was ‘little arm' and then that's it. It kicked off. It happened as soon as they walked in. “They hadn't even had time to get a drink. One lad suffered a broken nose. “Pickford wasn't hurt at all. He was out of the door as soon as it kicked off. Pickford's group left by minibus before the police came.” Reader Comments (16) Note: the following content is not moderated or vetted by the site owners at the time of submission. Though, like Gazza, he will probably not follow "No more Pubs". Gary Mortimer 2 Posted 15/02/2022 at 10:15:37 According to the BBC website – which has a page for all the front pages of the main English newspapers – the Sun stated inside that "there is a police probe into the situation, but the paper confirmed that Mr Pickford was not involved in the investigation. There is no suggestion that Pickford assaulted anyone."So basically a story to wind Evertonians up.Tomorrow's front page "Pickford in Pepper Spray storm" Michael Lynch 3 Posted 15/02/2022 at 10:25:48 "Pickford not involved in pub brawl" seems to be the newspaper story then. Does anyone actually spend their cash on these rags? I haven't bought a newspaper in years, I can get all the lies and bullshit I need online for free. James Marshall 4 Posted 15/02/2022 at 10:30:43 I've been in loads of pubs where there's been a fight, but that doesn't mean I had anything to do with any of them.Completely made-up nonsense as usual. Don't buy a newspaper, and whatever you do don't ever click on a Daily Mail or Sun link online either. Every click earns the foul blood suckers money. Resistance is not futile. Allen Rodgers 5 Posted 15/02/2022 at 10:43:16 Bit of a non-story and it's hardly a Tyneside pub, it's nearer Sunderland than Newcastle. Having said that, Pickford still seems to think he's one of the lads and should be a bit more careful about the company he keeps. Dennis Stevens 6 Posted 15/02/2022 at 19:35:01 If he's got any sense he'll adopt the T Rex reference as a nickname / alter ego & not get up tight about it. If he (over)reacts to it he'll be stuck with it forever. Jack Convery 7 Posted 15/02/2022 at 20:45:53 Leeds supporter on Saturday appears to have headbutted a steward and then the police got involved. Leeds supporter is arrested after use of pepper spray, apparently. Not a mention anywhere in the rags or on TV. Yet one prick stupidly throws a plastic bottle and all Everton fans are lambasted across the rags the next day and on the TV as vile lunatics. Beggars belief. Pickford goes into a pub. A fight breaks out. Pickford leaves. Let's print it – and the scum wonders why we all boycott it. Carl Rutherford 8 Posted 17/02/2022 at 00:28:52 It's actually a lot worse than reported. A friend of mine was there and part of the group that the altracation involved. The pub beggars Bridge in Boldon. Pickford has been to quite a lot and apparently police have been called on 2 or 3 occasions for incidents involving him and his mates and his brother (my mate said his brother was the source of most of the trouble). The phone was smashed not because it was used to film anything but because pickford was drunk and paranoid and smashed it himself. My friend told me all this before the incident was reported in the papers. Mike Gaynes 9 Posted 17/02/2022 at 01:12:38 Riiiight, Carl. Your friend knows "pickford was drunk and paranoid"... um how, exactly? Talked to him? I'd agree, however, that some better choices are in order. Nicholas Ryan 10 Posted 17/02/2022 at 02:25:10 When you get to his level of fame and notoriety, you just can't live life like you used to. It shouldn't be that way, but it is. Mike Gaynes 11 Posted 17/02/2022 at 03:05:14 Yep, Nicholas, and maybe at age 28 with a wife and a kid, you make a smarter decision about where to spend an evening out than you did when you were 22 and single. Kieran Kinsella 12 Posted 17/02/2022 at 04:38:03 Pickford is just an easy target for any Geordie ass clown who wants to make a name for himself by stirring shit up with him or his entourage. I also feel the London-based media love to jump on anything whereby they can brandish a northerner as another Gazza (Jimmy five bellies et al) but in truth if Pickford himself did anything wrong he'd have been arrested. He wasn't, so this just seems like shit-stirring and clutching at straws. Any punk can punch a celebrity and try and act like they have a feud whereas they're the ones taking a potshot just to raise their name and drag someone else's through the gutter. Kieran Kinsella 13 Posted 17/02/2022 at 04:44:30 CarlI live in Kansas City where Patrick Mahomes of the KC Chiefs is a very well known sports star. He has a brother who is constantly in the local news for being an ass hole and hanging onto his brother's coattails. I don't know anything about Pickford's brother but I can believe as with Mahomes maybe we have a sibling from the shadows who has a bit if a chip on his shoulder and vicariously wants to live through his successful sibling. If Jordan did something wrong, he'd be arrested, the police would love nothing better than to nail a celebrity. If as you allege his brother is an ass clown, great, what does that have to do with Jordan? To quote the Bible (Cain and Abel) "Am I my brother's keeper?" Alan J Thompson 14 Posted 17/02/2022 at 07:17:11 If he had any nouse when called "shortarms" he might have replied that he'd already got his round in, obviously the other bloke's nose was well within reach of other people's business. Was any mention made of the swine who had double parked outside? Carl Rutherford 15 Posted 17/02/2022 at 19:52:43 Mike it doesn't take a lot to tell when someone is drunk. But yes he did speak to him twice. The first time when the trouble was brewing to try and help diffuse the situation. Pickford told him that he was going to kick off in a minute. Then after he broke the phone, only to be told that he shouldn't have been filming him. Alan McGuffog 16 Posted 17/02/2022 at 20:02:57 He figures in a vital win for his club. He is a professional athlete. He then goes out on the lash with a bunch of mates in an area, over 100 miles away, where he is highly likely to encounter " banter ".Ffs...does he not have mates in the Everton team who could take him for pint in Dovecot or Norris Green or Kirkdale. Somewhere unobtrusive.Seriously if I were Mr L I'd want a word in his shell like...along the lines of " you work down here,so grow up and start socialising down here " Add Your Comments In order to post a comment, you need to be logged in as a registered user of the site. » Log in now Or Sign up as a ToffeeWeb Member — it's free, takes just a few minutes and will allow you to post your comments on articles and Talking Points submissions across the site.
