Everton Reserve striker Conor McAleny has been farmed out on loan to Scunthorpe United for the remainder of the season to gain more first-team experience the Iron have now confirmed on their official site:
All the forms were signed just before Thursday's 5.00pm loan transfer deadline, meaning he will be available for Saturday's home game with Notts County.

The 19 year-old, who follows in the footsteps of teammate Shane Duffy, broke the news on Twitter yesterday:

The official confirmation of his loan comes after it being rumoured that he would reject a contract offer to stay with Everton — a claim he also denied on Twitter.

McAleny wrote: "Thanks for the messages people, appreciate it. Looking forward to getting some first team football at Scunthorpe. Happy days."

Described by Everton's official website as 'a diminutive yet pacy striker' the 19-year-old is a product of the Toffees' academy and has made two substitute appearances in the Premier League, both of which have come this season.

Only last week he was linked with Championship sides Derby County and Southampton when it was suggested talks to extend his contract at Goodison Park beyond the end of the current campaign had broken down.

News of his move to the Iron was broken by Toffees centre-back Shane Duffy, who spent a hugely successful four months with United earlier in the campaign.

He tweeted: "Good luck Conor at Scunthorpe! Good club lad. Bang in some goals for them!!".

Clubs had up until 5pm this afternoon to recruit their last loan signings of the season and given the silence at Glanford Park, it was thought Scunthorpe had been unable to bolster their attacking rank
