Euro2012 heartbreak for Rodwell

Troublesome hamstring goes again in training
Jack Rodwell's season is effectively over — and in all likelihood his hopes of playing in Euro2012 this summer — after the England international suffered a grade one tear to his hamstring in training at the weekend.

It's the sixth time he has injured his hamstring this season and he will now visit specialist Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt in Germany to diagnose the source of his continuing problems.

While it's possible he could be fit in time for the European Championships in June, with just five Premier League games left in the Blues' season, Rodwell would have limited time to acquire match fitness and is therefore unlikely to be risked by England's stand-in managerial team.

It's also not clear at this stage whether he will recover in time to represent Great Britain in the Olympics in August but David Moyes has told the midfielder to concentrate on being fit for the new Premier League campaign in August.

"Jack has pulled his hamstring again and we are now trying to see when he can go to Germany for treatment," Moyes said.

"Dr Müller-Wohlfahrt is away this week and because he is the Bayern Munich club doctor he has a very big week next week because of their Champions League semi-final. So trying to get hold of him will be the hardest thing in the short term.

"I would advise him to concentrate on next season," Moyes added, "because Jack has missed six months with hamstring injuries so we have to get him working on whatever work programme they recommend him to do."
