Season › 2013-14 › News Deulofeu arrives at Finch Farm Lyndon Lloyd , 26 July, 0comments | Jump to most recent Gerard Deulofeu finally arrived at Finch Farm yesterday to take part in training and to meet with the Everton squad for the first time since signing a season long loan deal from Barcelona. The 19-year-old was granted extra time off after playing for Spain in the Under-20s World Cup in Turkey and, as such, he has been omitted from the squad to face Blackburn Rovers in tomorrow's friendly at Ewood Park. He has been settling into his new surroundings on Merseyside, however, and took part in a full day of players' interviews, photo shoots and green-screen filming ahead of the new season. Though he won't play against Rovers, Roberto Martinez believes Deulofeu will be ready to play on Wednesday when the Blues face Juventus in San Francisco in the International Champions Cup. “Gerard Deulofeu arrived yesterday and it will be very difficult for him to be involved against Blackburn,” Martinez told the Liverpool Echo. “He is a young man and has been working during the pre-season in the Under-20s World Cup so he is not going to be far away from joining the group. But Arouna Kone will be available as will Johnny Heitinga and Nikica Jelavic, who arrived at the same time as he did. “I would say the Juventus game is more realistic for Gerard. He had his first session yesterday. He is a young man so has the ability to be introduced into the group quicker than older players would. But the US Tour is probably more realistic for Gerard.” Everton will announce the full squad for the trip to the States this weekend. About these ads © ToffeeWeb
