Disclaimer Phill Thompson 1 Posted 22/07/2017 at 20:17:21 I watched this game just before the Genk one and must say I was very impressed by some of the 1st Year Scholars, they look much more impressive than last year's. No 16, Ellis Simms, scored a first-half hat-trick. He was with Man City originally, then they let him go; Blackburn also let him go, which doesn't sound too promising... but he looks okay so far for a 16-year-old.Team sheet numbers sometimes bear no resemblance to positions, No 4 Jordan Corke played as striker when he came on and scored two goals; No 9 Barney McKeown played as a centre-back alongside No 3 Michael Collins and they looked good together. The goalkeeper Nico Defreitas-Hamilton is apparently one of the stars of the US Youth Teams, and seems to have joined the club unnoticed. James Flynn 2 Posted 22/07/2017 at 20:24:35 Score was pretty much indicative of the gap in talent AND organization between the two teams. Those ETO boys were trying hard and still got their asses whipped. Anthony Dwyer 3 Posted 23/07/2017 at 00:32:45 Zirkzee on the bench!! Si Cooper 4 Posted 23/07/2017 at 01:03:03 Has Joshua Zirkzee been confirmed as an Everton player or is he effectively a triallist? Karl Graham 5 Posted 23/07/2017 at 02:54:00 Looking at the numbers, goalkeeper aside I think they are alphabetical. Hopefully these 2 scholar years will make up for the slightly disappointing one that preceded them. Winning this tournament would start the season off well, confidence-wise. Tanvir Akram 6 Posted 23/07/2017 at 08:22:53 Zirkzee was ill. Lee Brownlie 7 Posted 23/07/2017 at 15:55:13 Zirkee for the semee? Lee Jackson 8 Posted 25/07/2017 at 20:19:05 In the Gyori game, that last goal looked to have a touch of class about it. The others were a bit scruffy/miss-hit and helped by dreadful keeping but the last one was a lovely finish. Well done lads, the future continues to look bright. As a side-note, even sat on the bench that 'Zirkzee' lad looks huge for this age group!!
