I am far too critical: for me, they all start on a 3 and maybe get to 4 or 5 if they actually do anything worthwhile…

Alcaraz was my MotM with a 6 for the only moment of decent footballing skill on offer all night. But then he spoilt it by shooting straight at Sa when a little more guile was needed.

Most of the others I'd give a 5 to.

Nobody was absolutely horrendous, but nobody was anything better than a 5.

We looked a far greater threat when Charly came on — which is pretty much what we expected.

If Anjishnu didn't write this then no one would and player ratings – like when Paul Trail has done them – have always been debated in the comments sections.

I'm just grateful Anjishnu is taking the time and effort to write these articles.

My MotM was Gueye, he was everywhere, although he did commit some silly fouls.

It was like watching a Dyche game, pumping the ball upfield with no pace whatsoever.

Alcaraz should have come on far earlier for Doucoure who was non-existent. Beto was literally on his own again.

Gueye was as good as anybody and better than most but Alcaraz looked a cut above the rest when he came on.

Just one further comment in that I'm glad TW is alive and well after the recent changes. All the usual suspects still posting, which is great to see and read.

I thought the goal was more a team lack of focus rather than the contribution of a player mistake. This is known as a weak area after scoring.

Anyone can give an opinion, if you agree or not that's up to you. No need to be rude mate.

On saying that… Some of your marks are way off in my opinion, and I agree with PF on that score.

I also agree with him that Gana Gueye, whilst not at his best, was MotM. Special mention too for Jake O'Brien, who is fast becoming my new personal favourite and could be our next Seamus – must be an Irish thing…

Can't wait to see Alcaraz and Ndiaye in the same team, possibly with Dwight McNeil all supplying and playing of a rejuvenated and re-motivated Calvert-Lewin.

And those who see the ghost of Dyche in even that poor performance yesterday have got short memories. We still showed much more attacking intent than under him.

As someone with limited technical knowledge of the game, but who loves it, I like a concise, well-explained report.

I thought Gana was by far our best player in an uninspiring game of football. When I look back, £7M off the then relegated Aston Villa measured against the value he's added over the seasons in some poor Everton teams in difficult times speaks volumes.

Branthwaite wasn't at the consistent standard we've become accustomed to by the expectation he has set. But one game shouldn't judge any player. He's a star and one for the future.

And when General Tarkowski starts feeling the legs, I look forward was to seeing O'Brien alongside Jarrad.

By the way, for a moment, I thought Tarkowski was going to go all Duncan Ferguson on that Wolves striker last night!!

Modern Football Suppresses Emotion…

”They” are using the worlds biggest sport as a tool to suppresses the masses emotions.

For me, Harrison 4, Beto 4, Doucoure 4.

But I find it hard that some thought it was a Dyche-like performance; we did have chances, and players did go forward, which wouldn't happen under Sean.

But often the job is to trigger response. Positive or negative hardly matters... both are readers.

Still it could be worse - I remember listening to the Howard Winston v Salvadar fight in the '60s. It was some meatball called Raymond Glendening I think was commentating and had Winston an odds on winner according to his card – only to find that his card bore no relation to reality.

Do we have the same problem here, Houston?

I believe Raymond Glendenning was something of a BBC legend. Horse racing commentary and a big black mustache.

Beto has missed a few chances recently yet his attitude remains exemplary. Can he have more than one number?

I was at Palace and I can't recall seeing a player – for any team – work harder than Beto did that day. He knows his own limitations and his attributes. We need to support the latter whilst acknowledging the former.

He'll score again – my guess is that will come just when Broja or Calvert-Lewin are on the cusp – and that will challenge Moyes.

Pickford made two excellent saves and we're in danger of taking his seemingly endless ability to do this for granted.

Alcaraz also looks like he could be a star turn.

Given the position a couple of months ago, Moyes and his players have done a remarkable job.

Raymond Glendening was very famous in his day as a radio commentator after the war until the early sixties he was involved in horse racing, as you say, but better known for his boxing, football, including many FA Cup Finals, and tennis commentaries and his huge moustache!

Agree though, I was harsh and in a bit of a strump/strop for another reason, so my apologies to Anjishnu.

The next time Paul Ferry is rude, just offer to meet up with him face to face. He tends to fill his pants then, ask Barry Rathbone.

I don't think Barry has been on the receiving end of one of Ferry's snide digs ever since.

He seems to be a bit of an opportunist (in a good way), but I'm hoping he isn't the sort of player who periodically 'goes missing' at times in games. He has looked good primarily when coming on as a sub against tiring opposition, so I'd really like to see if he can maintain a constant and ever-present threat to the opposition for the duration of a full 90 minutes.

And as to accuracy - allegedly Tony Kay (with others) placed one bet and thus 'Threw the Game' while being MotM in one Sunday Paper's (the then 'People') player ratings.

Still one of the biggest stitch ups ever, especially that Brentford player got a slap on the wrist for 29 bets.

I'm trying to think. What have been the most recentish absolutely irredeemably atrocious performances by one of ours? I mean not a typical Harrison, Doucoure, or Lindstrom performance, but really irredeemably atrocious?

As regards the ratings I find it interesting to see how we all view the game differently.

I thought Gueye was a touch off the pace yesterday (Age/Ramadan?) and the team generally seemed out of sorts especially the second half.

I thought Jake Obrien had his best game (8 for me) though and the real problem was their MF overrunning ours so I wouldn't give anyone else more than a 6..

I agree with the comments about Alcaraz being the MotM. It was clear from early on that the Doucoure/Beto pairing was not working and I expected him to be brought on at HT latest.

That said, I did feel that DCL is stronger in other areas of the game where Beto is weaker like, for example, hold up play or that he can do something (admittedly occasionally!) with his back to goal.

With his recent habit of woeful efforts in one-on-ones (I mean, yesterday, he could have shouted to the keeper that he was intending to go to his right), Beto looks more limited in his all-round game. In other words, he doesn't do as much as DCL if he is not scoring, if that makes sense. And Beto did make a pigs ear of it when a ball was put in front of him on a sixpence yesterday.

I think a 5 for Beto was reasonable yesterday, along with a 3 or 4 for his even worse display at Brentford.

I still think that he might well come good (and even put him in my FPL team after Brentford!). I like his attitude for what it's worth. It will be good for him to put a one-on-one away v West Ham.

Actually, for me it's probably 40 years less a week or two, since I highly doubt the game aired live in the US. I'm pretty certain I would have seen it on tape.

It's sad that DCL has had so many injuries over the past few years. It will be interesting to see him play without the austere Dycheball, when he gets fit again. I can see him scoring more regularly.

Mark, the first time I went in the Top Balcony, I was very young. As we entered at the top of the stairs, I was in awe of the pitch only to start worrying as we moved down to our seats I started worrying that I might fall into the Main Stand!!

2. TK bet against his own team losing and I am not sure Toney did. As pointed out, Ipswich were on to win the league and Wednesday were a poor team so the odds were heavy on an Ipswich win. TK played a blinder and so never even tried to throw the game.

3. Don't remember but a few months ago found out he signed in 1963 so did collect a League Winners medal. Just hope they let him keep it. If not, we should have a Go Fund Me page to have a replica made for him.

It is a public holiday in France because - well they won.

He has to cover the run and the scorer is Mykolenko's man. He still nearly ended up getting a significant touch on the ball. Just have to credit an inch perfect pass and good runs by two attackers simultaneously.

I also think some of the judgements of the game overall are overly severe and ignore the fact that Wolves have / are still improving and appear to have a fair few players we'd be happy to have playing for us.

Agbadou looks like a class act and Toti Gomes was amazingly athletic at times. Those two helped make them secure at the back and, as others have stated, their midfield also won the battle for the middle of the park in the main.
