Season › 2024-25 › News Jack Grealish expects Goodison Park to be a fortress for Everton women’s team Anjishnu Roy 18/09/2025 0comments | Jump to last Jack Grealish expects Goodison Park to be a “fortress” for Everton women’s team after their move to the L4 this summer. Brian Sorensen’s side began a new and exciting era at the Grand Old Lady against Tottenham Hotspur last week. It was their first match as permanent occupants of one of the most iconic venues in the country and the Grand Old Lady is now the largest dedicated women’s football stadium in the UK. Speaking about the women’s game as well as the Everton women’s team move to Goodison, Grealish said, “I’m so, so close with my two little sisters and my mum. Obviously, my daughter and then my girlfriend as well. I think women's football is coming on so much since England won the Euros at Wembley, especially since then, and it's so good to see. “I think it's incredible from Everton to give Goodison Park to the team because I feel like it's like theirs now to go and perform.” Grealish obviously has first-hand experience of how difficult playing at Goodison Park as a visiting team player can be. He has had a string of tricky contests at the ground playing for both Aston Villa and Manchester City and believes that the Grand Old Lady can be a fortress for the women’s team going forward. “Listen, I've had so many tough games [at Goodison] over the years,” Grealish continued. “I know what the atmosphere can be like, so I think it would be nice for people to go and support them and get behind them. “I think it can be like a fortress for them and I think it would be really good for them to play with that sort of atmosphere and to get as many people there as possible, I think it would be brilliant.” After two subdued seasons with City, Grealish has hit the ground running for Everton this season. The on-loan winger picked up the Premier League player of the month award for August after blistering displays in the wins over Brighton and Wolves, registering four assists in just two games. “Yeah, I am [loving it],” he added. “Honestly, I'm not just saying that at all. Since I've come here, I don't really know how or why the connection's been the way it has, but it's just something that's just happened and it's so lovely. “Everyone, all of my family say it as well, because they come to every game and they can see it. I just want to thank [the fans] for all the support and all the love. Listen, hopefully I can repay you in so many different ways and hopefully there's many more good times to come.” Reader Comments Note: the following content is not moderated or vetted by the site owners at the time of submission.
