Everton Women have suffered another blow as it has been confirmed that captain Megan Finnigan will be out until 2026.

Sidelined since January with a knee issue, Finnigan requires surgery to repair the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in her knee and will not be seen on the playing field until after the winter break.

The centre-back’s last appearance was in the 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup in January, where she went off injured after 10 minutes. It exacerbates the injury crisis for Brian Sorensen’s side.

The Blues will also miss the presence of goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan, striker Aurora Galli and defender Rion Ishikawa who are also out with knee problems at the moment.

Midfielder Katja Snoeijs suffered a hamstring injury in training and will miss Sunday's home league game against Manchester United, but striker Kelly Gago returns following a concussion.
