Wonder if he had a management clause in his contract and whether we got any compensation for him. The way things are at present I doubt it.Decent bloke going to a god awful team. Hope his first signing is Vic... Dave Charles 3 Posted 10/06/2013 at 16:51:49 Good Luck to him in his managerial career. A good player for us and a good bloke off the pitch. Hope he does well. David Holroyd 4 Posted 10/06/2013 at 16:50:12 Weir, Round,Woods,Lumsdon, just leaves Stubbs and Ferguson. Lets hope Martinez,s staff who come with him are up to scratch. Al Reddish 5 Posted 10/06/2013 at 17:08:03 Could b good if he takes a couple of youngsters on loan to give them experience Phil Sammon 6 Posted 10/06/2013 at 17:04:46 If I could have picked two members of staff to stay on and work under Martinez then I'd have chosen Stubbs and Ferguson, and I'd have also pleaded for a third in Irvine.Weir is a great bloke though and I hope he does well with the Blades. I can see a few of our youngsters heading there on loans. James Elworthy 7 Posted 10/06/2013 at 17:33:53 A bigger club than Wigan, they had gates double their gate Wigan have.Next manager of Everton watch this space??? Paul Dark 8 Posted 10/06/2013 at 17:35:09 I've never been a great fan of his as player or coach.Wish him all the best (though it's an odd appointment). Greg Lambden 9 Posted 10/06/2013 at 18:14:45 We didn't need another defender on the coaching staff anyway.Hope we were adequately compensated by Sheffield Utd mind you!! Ryan Holroyd 10 Posted 10/06/2013 at 18:23:07 Paul Dark "I've never been a great fan of his as a player or coach" How do you come to this conclusion? Have you seen his work as a coach? Could u tell me his strengths and weaknesses as a coach please? Ross Edwards 11 Posted 10/06/2013 at 18:34:38 Good luck David. I hope you do well. I would have preferred him and Stubbs to stay behind to advise Bobby M on defending, as that is his major Achilles heel. Colin Glassar 12 Posted 10/06/2013 at 19:14:04 Good luck Davy, you will need it there as they like to sack their managers. I hope Stubbsy or Irvine stay on as defensive coaches. Lenny Kingman 13 Posted 10/06/2013 at 19:20:31 The times they are a changing. And not before time. Who's next. Patrick Murphy 14 Posted 10/06/2013 at 19:37:10 I met him once and he is a gentleman, good luck David, learn the ropes and who knows in a few years you might be ready to return to Goodison. Steve Ferns 15 Posted 10/06/2013 at 20:19:55 Alan Irvine is in charge of the Academy, Colin. Mark Knight 16 Posted 10/06/2013 at 20:27:34 All the best Mr Weir.. John Crawley 17 Posted 10/06/2013 at 21:18:57 All the best David, a very good defender for Everton for a number of years and an intelligent footballer. I hope he does well and comes into contention in the future for the Everton manager's position. Martin Handley 18 Posted 10/06/2013 at 22:05:09 Just to echo what most other people have said, class player, class bloke and by all accounts a very good coach. All the best Dave ,hope it works out and we see you back here as gaffer one day. Mark Stone 19 Posted 10/06/2013 at 22:12:01 I was thinking that, Ryan. Have read half a dozen similar things about Neville's coaching ability, too. Jamie Sweet 20 Posted 10/06/2013 at 23:34:35 Does anyone know how the backroom staff will line up next season? Is Roberto bringing some of his team from Wigan? Is Round leaving? What's happening to Neville? We've seem to have sorted out the top job - but unless I've missed something, there still needs to be a lot of work done regarding the other roles around the club. Mike Green 21 Posted 10/06/2013 at 23:41:04 Jamie - Round's gone to Utd with Moyes on 6 year deal. Mike Green 22 Posted 10/06/2013 at 23:41:04 Jamie - Round's gone to Utd with Moyes on 6 year deal. Mike Green 23 Posted 10/06/2013 at 23:43:56 Apparently on double time. Jamie Sweet 24 Posted 11/06/2013 at 00:23:47 Thanks Mike... I missed that. Does Bobby M have an assistant lined up? Mike Green 25 Posted 11/06/2013 at 00:35:13 Jamie - nothing been said yet but logically I expect he's going to be bringing staff over from Wigan. Round and Weir have gone, Neville's retired to go into coaching (with us.....? Don't think so), Stubbs and Ferguson are still there but my guess is his 'inner circle' will be his people. Viva La Revolution? Ean Palese 26 Posted 11/06/2013 at 05:18:16 All the best Davie. Great person and obviously has a wealth of playing experience. I played against him in college in the States (back when he was a goal-scoring forward and led the NCAA in scoring for U of Evansville). He was a beast and had a pillow touch, massive in the air. They had a fantastic squad and nearly won the championship. I had a friend who lived in Kentucky, right across the border from Indiana and we would come up and train with the Purple Aces during pre-season, as he had a few mates playing at UE. Great memories... Jimmy Sørheim 27 Posted 11/06/2013 at 13:51:38 Why is there not a mention of money compensation? Is it Everton`s policy now to just give away managers and coaches for free????Terribly enough we lost millions on Moyes not having a contract, but now we just let our coaches leave it seems.
