Is Reading to be the home of Everton rejects? Akpan, now Drenthe... expect Gosling, Shandy, Bily and Jo next...

Have him back here at the drop of a hat if he's sorted - great footballer.

I agree Barry, would much rather take a risk on Drenthe, rather then sticking with the dreadful uninspiring Naismith who was also a free signing

I liked Drenthe and think Moyes used him very poorly. However if the rumours are true about how he behaved then he really gave the club no option.

Moyes did sign this guy and Shandy Andy before him so you have to question his judgement of character sometimes. Mirallas is twice the player Drenthe will ever be

Drenthe was almost as much a liability on the pitch as he was off it. Great pace, and a howitzer of a shot, but not really a team player, and lost the ball easily, and in dangerous positions. His refusal to track back was a no-no under our previous manager, and from memory he cost us at least 2 goals, including one in that 3-0 drubbing at Anfield. The flip side is I do think he was used too sparingly, and maybe that contributed to his going off the rails.

The way he behaved off the pitch was totally unforgivable though. Left the club with no choice really.

Though I like Drenth,e I agree with Matt Traynor. He was not a team player and needs to learn that in order to do well in England.

I would have him back if he got his stuff together. It will be very interesting to follow him this season. I just love flair players.
