Has anyone heard any news on Bill Kenwright?

Rumours gathering pace on Twitter…

I think we should hold fire on any comments relating to the rumours, wait until an official announcement is made, if there is a need for an official announcement to be made by the club.

Bill Kenwright is trending on Twitter right now but, as Barry says, best to hold off on what is only rumour as we speak.

Bill Kenwright passed away yesterday according to his Wikipedia entry.

Has Kenwright died? Just heard the rumor.

So far no official report on Kenwright passing on Sky Sports News or Official site but the Echo has put it out as has X and Wiki and Bellew has a sad face emoji – complications after liver surgery so possibly true.

Ron,

I heard the same rumour while walking the dog in the park. A total stranger told me.

I asked if he was a Blue or Red, and he said a Blue, so presumably he wasn't being funny when he saw my Everton jacket.

Must be true – the world and it's wife seems to know. 🤷

Rumours circulating on Facebook too. But nothing confirmed, so just rumours.

Getting a mention on X but nothing with any of the major news stations or the Echo. Even Everton haven't reported anything.

Don't think it's true to be honest. Sad way to go if it's true. If he just stuck to being truthful and not blowing his own trumpet he would still have had most of the fanbase.

I would expect BBC Radio 5Live news to have something if there was any truth to this one.

Nothing at 2 pm. Nada.

Michael @13
It might not be significant, but Newsnow and the Echo's live Everton blog have not shown any updated Everton news since about 12:30pm today. Also 'Watched Toffee' on his X account, mentioned a news blackout, I assume from Everton's end?

It's on Liverpool History FB page (I think mate sent it)

Could be the club doing it's 'control the narrative' thing, prepping for a big announcement?

Interesting, however, that the entry on Wikipedia saying he died yesterday has now been removed.

Wikipedia is so easily messed with as to be meaningless in such situations, happens often. Seems someone has corrected it pending proper confirmation, if appropriate.

Wider general searches still showing nothing.

There's an obituary/tribute on a site called Celeb Critic (I think it's called). Don't know how reliable the site is but someone has taken the time to post a lengthy piece.

It's a shame that death itself is reduced to an internet did it-didn't it fest.

Why don't the club make a statement to stop the rumours or confirm. So Everton isn't it.

If it is true, then RIP Bill.

Dont like what he did to the club, but at times such as this there are more important things than football.

Nothing on Sky Sport News at 3 - Wiki death date taken off no other official news.

If Bill Kenwright has died may he Rest In Peace. Knowing EFC however, they may be keeping the lid on his death announcement until Manu honour the passing of Sir Bobby Charlton (RIP), tonight at Old Trafford. Also it may be difficult to contact all the next of kin for a few days.

There's this bizarre article on a strange website that seems to glory in this Death and Obituary meme:

Bill Kenwright Death And Obituary: Did He Die From Cancer?

Yet when you click on 'News' or 'Sport', no sign of this story... but there is a lovely article on Bill and his gals in the Family section:

Bill Kenwright Partner Jenny Seagrove: Meet His Ex Wife Anouska Hempel

Go Figure!

Media is increasingly disgusting, Michael. "Grab his obituary here."

25 Posted 24/10/2023 at 15:37:24
This one is even more bizarre:

Bill Kenwright Death: The Life and Legacy of Everton's Chairman

Replete with quotes from Farhad Moshiri, Rafa Benitez, Seamus Coleman, David Moyes, Tim Cahill, and Wayne Rooney.

Wow. What a newshound! If he's just made all this up, it's really quite impressive.

Meanwhile, the Echo live blog has been updated, Barry @14... with yet another 777 Partners story.

Amazing how a story that might not even be true prompts criticism of our Club; Ray #21.

Reasonably sure those obituary sites are just ai-written pieces of junk being churned out with a view to receiving web traffic based on wider search trends.

There's a very clear pattern to the structure of most of the articles on that site that don't chime with how a human would write them, especially not with regard to death.

Welcome to 2023 I guess...

Paul,

maybe some AI in there. Often written by some with a different first language too, which turns out similar.

Yup, I saw that, but Dave Powell had posted that story at 11:45am, perhaps the Echo bloggers have taken the afternoon off.

Could be obituaries were drafted after the news that Bill had undergone surgery and someone has hopefully jumped the gun.

Just read the link @ Michael 24 - said the diagnosis news was revealed in August and shocked the footballing world - yet it was kept private until revealed last week - all just grabbing at straws until they get the right answer?

I remember some years ago an actor was due to appear in Wichita and rumors spread online he had died. The promoter came out saying it was all lies to hurt ticket sales. Then a few hours later said promoter announced he had in fact died. What had happened was a friend had posted a remark about the acting going on his “last journey” alluding to his likely death which everyone took to mean he had died. He hadn't yet but then he did. Is it possible we have a similar situation here?

Maybe some self-deluded fool in love with him is just needing to find out whether it'll be necessary to have both BMD and a just-vacated Goodison available for all his grateful fans to pay tribute to him together, as and when.

It's been confirmed by his production company
